Eye-uh-son...I guess. I think it's awful. If a reader is clueless on how to say it, it basically indicates it would be a pain for that child for the rest of their life!

I have to admit, my eyes just want to put that little hook on the bottom of the I and make it Jason (although I'm not saying it isn't a real name). Looks Greek maybe? Depending on where you live, I think it might be one of those ones that constantly gets mispronounced/spelled regardless of how legit it is.
Eye-ah-son. Personally, if most people would struggle to pronounce the name, I don't think I would use it.

Yay-son
Is it an ethnic name? If so, then it's confusing, but that's not necessarily a reason to bypass it. If it's made-up, I would totally find something else.
I don't like it. I think it would be way to confusing.. Everyone would say it differently and the poor kid's name will always have to be corrected, spelled out, etc...
I actually went to school with a guy named Iason. It was spelled with an "i" but still pronounced as Jason....not sure if that's the real way it's supposed to be pronounced, or he just had everyone at school call him that because it's easier.

I'm pronouncing it like the beginning of Iago too...Ee-ah-son.
This is the ancient Greek form of Jason, right? As in Iason/Jason and the Argonauts? I don't think it is practical for a child growing up in a non-Greek speaking country (if it is even in common use in Greece).
If I'm unsure how to pronounce or spell a name I'm generally not for it, I wouldn't want to subject my child to a lifetime of being annoyed at their name.
But to each their own!

I'm assuming it's pronounced like Jason, because I think the I is the equivalent to the J sound in Latin (or used in place of or something to that effect).
Behind the Name says "From the Greek name ?as??..."
You're not using all those other Greek characters. Why use the first one, just because it has a match in the roman alphabet, and confuse people for all eternity.
I'm not one to advocate skipping a name because it's somewhat difficult to pronounce, but this just seems unnecessary and silly to me. Name him Jason.

I saw this the other day on Facebook. The correct pronunciation is "Yay-son" like Jason with a y. Its from Greek mythology. The couple has one son named Thor and they are thinking of sticking with a Greek God type theme so was wondering people's reactions. Thanks for everyone's input!
Re: Iason...pronunciation? thoughts?

Same. Too confusing, don't curse your child with a crazy name that even thoughtful kind people won't know what to do with.

Aye-son.
Every person ever will be putting a loop on that i and making it Jason. You might as well name him Jason and save him the mass confusion.
I also said Lay-son in my head haha!
Yay-son? Is that what you're going for?
It sounds like Jason, but in another language, so I guess I would expect him or his parents to be from outside the United States.
This. I am pronouncing it like the beginning of Iago.
