How long did you swaddle?

So, DD started co-sleeping with me at about 3 weeks (which is the same time she started STTN about 5-6 hours), then at 9 weeks I started transferring her to sleeping in her rock-n-play, but she has to be swaddled or she won't sleep.  She still STTN about 7-9 hours.  I was planning on just letting her decide when she's ready to let it go, but I'm just wondering about how long that'll be?  Also, about when did you transfer to the crib?  I haven't gotten the nerve to try it yet...I just feel more comfortable with her right next to me.  She'll be 3 months on the 25th.

I swaddled DD1 for 4.5 months until she fought it so much she would constantly wake up. I also transitioned to crib at that point too. With DD2, I plan to swaddle for at least 3 months and then will probably transition to the magic sleep suit, which worked amazingly well for DD1. Some people swaddle for 6+ months.

My LO started fussing with the swaddle at about 3 weeks, so now he's just in sleepers and does great. As far as the crib... We started it about a week ago or so as well, he does alright, but some nights (like tonight) he fusses so he's in the RNP next to my bed.

My daughter was in a Swaddle for a couple months.  My son fought them from day 1.  He was swaddled for about a week.

I still swaddle. Otherwise his startle reflex wakes him up.

We swaddle using the swaddle me and have had his arms out since about 3 or 4 weeks.  He would always squirm out so we figure why keep putting them in.  I could probably give it up, I'm just nervous he'll have a bad night so I keep doing it.  He doesn't get swaddled for naps though.  I think this week might be the last week.

We stopped swaddling in the hospital.  DS absolutely hated it after day 1.  We told the nurse that came into our pp room and tried to swaddle him and her response was "every baby likes to be swaddled.". Then he started screaming his head off and trying to free himself.  I took him, let his arms out and he went right to sleep.  She starred and tried her best to take her foot out of her mouth.

    We used sleep sacks now.

We transferred to the crib around 3 weeks (started with naps), and DD immediately started sleeping longer at night (6-7 hrs). We stopped swaddling around 6 or 7 weeks, with no effect on her sleeping habits ... but she always liked having her arms free, so she was never fully swaddled, except in the hospital.

I *think* that babies outgrow the startle reflex around 3 mos, so you could always try to start weaning off the swaddle, maybe leave an arm free?

She only likes being swaddled at night, won't have none of it during the day and I have to leave her feet free (she's like me in that she can't stand having anything on her feet).  Sometimes during her naps during the day, if I don't hold her arm whenever she startles and starts squirming, she starts hitting herself, scratching herself, pulling her hair and it wakes her up.  I guess I could try one arm and see how she does...

Can you tell me where you found your I went natural siggie? I love it. I went natural too, and drug free! I haven't been on the bump for a while so I forget a lot of stuff plus I will have to update the fact that I have a 1 month old and add pics. Thank you in advance for your response.

We quit swaddling when LO was 4 months, because he was breaking loose.  It's important to stop when your LO can roll over or is breaking loose.  We switched to Halo sleepsacks at that point, which helped with the transition.
