I'm sorry you have to be induced It all depends on your body and how you react to labor....everyone is different...for me it was a horrible experience. Pitocin is terrible!
I got induced Monday night, starting with the cervadil to ripen my cervix. The next day they started pitocin, which didn't work...I only dilated 1 cm the entire day. They put cervadil in again Tuesday night, followed by pitocin in the morning. By 10 am on Wednesday my water broke, and I was 5 cm by around 2 pm. I ordered the epidural at 3 cm dilated, and it didn't come until I was 5 cm...so I was in some pain. Not sure what you are planning on doing, but the epi helps sooo much, especially since pitocin causes you to have stronger and more consistent contractions. Baby Dylan was born at 6:59 pm Wednesday night! I think it is different for everyone, as my sister in law was induced in January and ended up with a C section after about 3 days of trying the pitocin.
I hope things go well for you and wish you the best of luck!
I had already dilated a bit by the time I was induced (40 w 5 d), so they used Pitocin and broke my water. My labor was 12 hours from start to finish -- very good experience.

I was 3.5cm when I went in for induction. They started the pitocin around 6:00am and baby was born at 10:54am, so just at 5 hours. I was lucky to have such a positive experience- apparently my body really was ready!
Re: How long did induction take?

Me, too! Here's hoping we both have it "fast and easy!"
First of all good luck, it's different for everyone.
I was 0 dialated, 0 effaced with DS and had cervadyl (ripening gel) placed at 9pm. Suppose to start pitocin at 8am the next morning.
5am (no sleep all night cuz I could not get comfortable), the nurse came in and checked me. 4.5cm dialated & she took out cervadyl.
Baby born at 11:18am. 14-15 hours.
