I was already taking Zantac but still having heartburn issues a couple nights a week. My grandma insisted that swallowing a tablespoon of honey would save me, and since I was already at the end of my rope, I figured it couldn't hurt to try. It worked! I couldn't believe it. Now I take one tablespoon every night and it makes life much easier.
Yeah, seriously. The heartburn sucks. Can't even bend over to put on my kids' shoes without it flaring up. And pretty much all enjoyable foods cause it. Thanks goodness I only have this during pregnancy. Couldn't imagine it all of the time.

My heartburn has also been getting worse as the pregnancy progresses. DH and I are taking an expectant parent class at the Birthing Center here, and they had some pharmacy students do a presentation on heartburn for us. Apparantly even water can make it worse, because the acid in your stomach reacts when you put anything in it.
Personally the only thing that really helps me is tums.

I have the worst heartburn of my life!
I take 2 tums a day. Sometimes 4. It seems to help out a lot. Instant relief.
