Back to work the day after no heartbeat

Yesterday I went in for my first ultrasound at 9 weeks 3 days. This was my first pregnancy and I was so excited to see my baby. Unfortunately, there was no heartbeat. My DH and I were completely devastated. I haven't had any bleeding.. only some slight cramping. I still have most of the pregnancy symptoms.

I'm back at work today and I'm totally not myself. Two of the girls in my office know and they've been very supportive but I'm dreading lying to my boss about my D&C this Friday (will be telling her I'm having a cyst removed instead) because she is the office gossip and shares all information with EVERYONE.

What an awful day! I hope it gets better from here.

UGH that is the worst. I'm so sorry! Can you take the afternoon off and pamper yourself or watch a movie?

I know how you feel. I had the same situation last week. I had an U/S monday, no heartbeat, went in to work on Tuesday but only made it through early afternoon and then I left. I did not give my boss the specifics either, but told him it was medical issues and I would be out the rest of the week. He was surprisingly understanding. I did find that keep myself busy at work helped for a little while. I hope your day gets better.

I agree with PP, take the afternoon off and I would definitely take tomorrow off. I needed that time by myself.

I'm in the same boat and as sad as I am for both of us, it does make it a little easier to know that we're not alone and that someone is going through the exact same thing at the exact same time. At yesterday's US, there was no heart beat, and the baby stopped growing at 6 weeks (I should have been 10). I have a D&C scheduled for tomorrow. All day yesterday I heard "try to keep busy" from family and friends, so I came to work today. We both should have stayed home. I'm so sorry that you're going through this too, and if you want to talk, vent, cry, anything, I'm here.

How horrible, I can't imagine going back to work after that! I'm so sorry for your loss and I agree with PP, take as much time off as you are able.

Thank you guys for being so supportive. My old boss was amazing and totally understanding. This new one not so much. I just pulled her into a room to tell her my fake story and the first thing she said when I walked into the room was "ARE YOU GONNA TELL ME YOU'RE PREGNANT?!". Ugh. So irritating. I did mention that I may not return on Monday or Tuesday and that I would work from home and at least she was supportive of that.

So sorry for your loss and for everyone elses on this board! I figure at least I'm lucky enough to be able to go online once in a while at work and vent and read others' stories here. So glad I'm not suffering alone. Hopefully we can all somewhat heal with time and we are all able to have healthy pregnancies in the future.

I was 9w 3days too when we had our first ultrasound and no heartbeat. I was supposed to work the next day, but everyone at my work had just found out i was pregnant a few days before and I knew there was no way i could face anyone. I called in. I didn't even get out of bed for two days after we learned about our missed mc. I hope you have better days ahead. Good luck with your D&C.
