The only one I like is Penelope. I'll explain why I don't like the others:
Annabel sounds like a cow's name, although I have seen some little Annabels that pulled it off.
Lainey is too cutesy and doesn't age well (although I love Kelle Hampton's Lainey!)
Darby sounds harsh, and makes me think "derby."
Emily seems dated to me.
Married to my best friend 6/5/10
BFP #1 9/7/10, EDD 5/14/11, Violet born 5/27/11.
BFP #2 4/9/12, EDD 12/16/12, M/C Rory 4/24/12.
BFP #3 10/6/12, EDD 6/16/12., Matilda born 6/17/13.
I like Penelope best, then Annabel. Although a friend of mine is Alaina with a nickname Lainey. I like Lainey, but do prefer it as a nickname. Good luck
I like Penelope best. I have a friend named that and she doesn't use a nickname at all. I also like Laine, which you could nn Lainey when they are little, but I think with the Y, it's too cutesy for an adult.

Annabel I can't stand. Any names that have a -bel or -belle at the end, I don't like. I live in Montreal so French language is commonplace and "belle" means beautiful so I find it presumptious to name your child that way.
Re: girl names that DH and i can somewhat agree on :)
This:) Good luck!
Love Darby!

LOVE Penelope and Darby, like Annabel.
Emily is too common/used for me, and not a fan of Lainey at all.
Penelope
Emily
Lainey
Those are my top three in that order.
Penelope - I want to like it, but I can't take it seriously. Just too whimsical for me.
Annabel - I love this, but worried about rising popularity. I prefer the extra -le on the end, too.
Lainey - Only as a NN, IMO.
Darby - Okay, but doesn't wow me... I always see "drab" before "Darby" registers.
Emily - Way too overused. Nice name, but I'm sick of it.
Me too!
The rest are not my style. I think that Darby is cute. Would that be her full name or a nickname?
I pretty much agree with this except I don't mind Darby.
Penelope is definitely my favorite of your list but it is becoming more and more popular if that is a concern for you. I like Darby second.
Love- Emily, Annabel(le)
Like- Penelope, Lainey
NMS- Darby
same here
This for me too.

Ditto. I would be inclined to use the spelling Annabelle.
Annabel is gorgeous.
Darby is the only one I don't really care for.

Annabel. I love that name.
