Weight of baby

I'm 32wks & went to the Dr. yesterday & she has gained almost a pd since last wk. On the 20th she weighed 3lbs 14oz & as of 28th she weighed 4lbs 12oz. Is it normal for a baby to gain that much in a wk when I'm only 32wks?

That does seem like a lot, but from my experience, weight estimates are VERY unreliable.  I'm surprised you doctor estimated down to the oz. level?

This - AND babies each grow at their own pace, which may not be in a straight line. Your LO could gain a lb last week and only a couple of ounces the next.

As long as you're healthy, I figure, our grandmothers had no ultrasounds or weight estimates and delivered a ton of babies just fine. If they did, we can too!

Honestly, they shouldn't be doing a growth scan on a weekly basis. My friend works at (and where I get my scans done)  a maternal growth specialists office, and she is only allowed to measure/scan every 14 days for growth, otherwise it won't be as accurate. Plus, they can be kinda off anyways!

With my own pregnancy I was told that my baby was bigger than normal when I had my 32 week growth scan and that if I went full term, my baby would like 9 or 10 pounds.  I delivered a day after my due date and my baby was only 7 pounds. Now I know that the ultrasounds are not accurate and their "guesses" are off.

I have growth ultrasounds every 4-6 weeks due to medication I am on that can cause low birth weight and fetal growth retention.  Thankfully DD2 has been growing great, so great that is she is over the 50% with her estimated fetal weight.  She is actually measuring on the big side this appointment, but there are many factors and issues that can skew an estimated fetal weight.

DD1 was estimated to be over 9 lbs at birth, even at 38 weeks.  I delivered at 38+4 and she weight 6 lbs 14 oz's.  Her femur and head circumference skewed the measurements, same with this baby.
