different types of nasal bulbs

I am not sure what you call those snot suckers but anyhow, are some brands better than others? I have one from the hospital that is HUGE and much bigger than my LO's nostrils. Then I have another one that dosent seems to suction well. I was curious if there are better ones, or possibly my husband and I could be suctioning wrong.

Re: different types of nasal bulbs

  • I can never get those things to work no matter what.

I go straight for the spray saline. Done and over in a minute!

  • They come in all sorts of sizes. If you have a surgical supply store nearby you can look for a different sized one. Don't toss the bigger one though, you'll use it for sooner than you think.

A tip for bulb suctioning - aim straight back, not towards the bridge of the nose. Pretend you're trying to suction from the base of the neck/head junction. And close the other nostril while you're suctioning.

  • I just recently learned that you have to push the bottom up to suction, rather than just squeeze the bulb ... duh, lol. Those things are tricky, like PP mentioned.. I try to keep saline spray on hand, but sometimes I still have to go in with the bulb once I spray her nose.

Same for me. I'd rather pick boogers out with my finger, than suck them out through a straw. I know the thing gets awesome reviews, I just can't do it.

Why?  It truly isn't as disgusting as it sounds.  The tube is long, there is a filter, and the part that collects the snot is giant.  You've to have the mucus of 10 adults to fill it all and get it in your mouth.

  • I love the aspirator that came in the Little Noses Stuffy Nose kit.
  • I love our BabyComfyNose - it's similar to the NoseFrida, but does not require you to purchase filters. Instead, a tissue is used. The tip is also soft and flexible. Sure, it may sound gross, but this this is awesome!

  • This is what I use...and if Erik has boogers then he loves it.  It coms with different size tips (got because lo has a tiny nose).  It is easy to use and I love it.
