The cervix softens and thins in preparation for birth. Don't worry if your cervix is already soft...it definitely doesn't mean you're about to give birth early! This is something the body does to prepare.

my doctor keeps telling me the same thing.. my cervix is soft but I havent "opened" at all... Im assuning that means I havent dialated... so anywho my due date WAS 12/5 now she has me scheduled to be induced on 11/28 Im excited and nervous all at once

Why are you getting induced before your due date? Especially since you haven't made any progress yet as far as dilation/effacement...
