A lot of women like to know what is going on with their bodies (Like me). And, charting is an excellent way of finding that out. Many, many, many women conceive without ever charting a day in their life!
If you are curious to see what your body is doing but, don't want to worry over it daily, I would keep a pen and notebook (or calendar) by your bed and take your temperature daily and mark it down on the paper. And, when AF shows (hopefully not) then plug it in on FF. Then you can see the "bigger picture."

We are trying and failing I dont have a regular schedule so Its hard for me to get up at the same time everyday to take my bbt. I feel guilty that we are having tttc and still not charting regularly!
Good luck to you

I do not, but I did the last time I was TTC. But I do track CM and use OPK's with FF.
I do think its work. It was stressful for me to remember, then write it down and get it to fertility friend. I hated it, don't want to do it again. I don't think every one has to. I've been keeping track of the past 14 cycles, I'm pretty good at knowing when I'm Oing all on my own. And as long as you have sex 2-3 times per week, you're bound to catch your fertile window without knowing when ovulation happened.
It really isn't that much work. I've been doing it for 11 years. It's a few seconds in the morning to take the temp, about five seconds to enter it into the computer or write it on a paper chart and then an extra second in the bathroom to check cm and cp (if desired). Charting takes about 1.5 minutes a day to do. Obsessing over it for hours is entirely optional.

I don't chart. I'm in if it happens it happens mode. Although charting may seem like a lot of trouble you might change your mind if you don't get pg in the first few cycles, as that can be very frustrating as well.
We'll see. I see myself charting if I don't get pg withing the first 6-8 cycles.

I just recently decided to start charting because we've been trying since January with no luck. My issue was mostly that I'm a very light sleeper so I wasnt getting the 3 full hours of sleep before temping so my temps were everywhere. Anyhow I'm def on board to start temping now!
Taking a minute to put a thermometer in my mouth and then enter my temp into the computer really isn't that much work to me?
This. I completely respect anyone's choice to not chart, but I don't understand when the reasoning is because "it's too hard" or "it takes too much time." Charting has added about 2 mins max to my daily routine and couldn't be easier IMHO.

I decided that I would chart midway through my first cycle because it was long. I am glad to know that I had information so that when I went to the Dr. during my second cycle, after CD 60, I was able to say that I hadn't O'd yet and thought it was possible that I didn't in the previous cycle either.
My Dr. sent me for blood work and an U/S and we have determined that I probably have PCOS. Without temping I could have wasted months "trying" when we need to see a specialist who can help me O. I think the information I've gained was so worth the time I've taken charting.

I don't chart. I'm very regular and have ovulation pain. This is my 2nd cycle of really TTC (3rd in total- but DH and I were OOT at different times the very first month we "tried" so I am not really counting it). I got pg last cycle but ended up with a chemical pg. Fingers crossed for this one!
I just couldn't imagine waiting half a year or more to start charting if I was actually serious about trying. For me is totally different to say "if it happens, it happens" then to say "yes, I am ready and want a child now." When we start again in 2 weeks we fall into the latter category. It took me a few cycles of charting to get the hang of it and to realize how different each cycle could be. I want to do it now so when I get to the year mark I can tell/show my doctor what is going on. I don't check cervical position but the combo of CM, temping and opks is really pretty easy.
I do have to admit that when we start trying again next cycle that I will be more relaxed about charting was when we first started. Being on TB has made my expectations of getting KU in a certain time frame much more realistic.

I chart because my personality wouldn't allow me not to! I have to know what's going on and plan (or try to plan) accordingly. It does drive me crazy, though.
I do have a friend who didn't chart. She just had sex EOD for her whole cycle (after AF at least) and in less than a year she got pregnant twice. One ended in miscarriage. You have to do what is best for you.

I thought that at first I absolutely did not want to chart, but halfway through this cycle I changed my mind. I think the only issue is if you have an irregular sleep schedule. Once you pick a time to take the temp though it seems pretty simple. FF does most of the work.

I tend to get a little obsessive about things... so I decided not to chart for the first few months to keep myself and DH more relaxed (last month when I got a positive OPK that pressure and excitment was just a little much for him...so I'm not doing that this month either). We're just going to have sex ED or EOD this cycle and see what happens.
That being said, after three or four cycles I probably will start charting because that is when my body *should* be fairly regular again (knock on wood) after coming off BCP last month so I will want to make sure I am O'ing by then. I figure that the first 3-4 months it would be normal for me not to O from being on BCP, so I don't really care to know if I am or not. Just my reasoning. I think it's different for everyone, we all get emotionally invested in TTC in different ways.

I'm with you, I do NOT chart. It is way too much anxiety about remembering to test in the morning. By the time I remember it is about 4 hours after I woke up....too late then!
I dont chart---I use OPK's and check for other ovulation signs...CM, and I get a pinching on one side. I just feel like I know myself and I know I would obsess over the charting. I am not saying i wont ever do it, but I am just not currently doing it. I think you have to do what is right for you.

I don't find charting to be hard or that it's work. My BBT remembers the last temp, so it is a matter of taking my temp. I will look at when it is done (unless it's the weekend, and then I go back to sleep and check it later) and then enter it into FF when I have time.
FWIW, before having DS, my cycles were clockwork, every 24 days with O on day 11 or 12. Since having DS, they are a little longer, 28-32 days, however O has been any where from CD 9 to CD 19. Without charting, I never would have known just how wacky my body has been.

This is my first month charting. I've checked cm and used opk's in the past. I just wanted to make sure that I was actually o'ing and not just gearing up to o. I like charting..I set my alarm for when MH has to get up for work about 5am, take my temp, write it on a little notebook and fall back asleep until I have to get up, about 6:30. I've had a few rough nights, and so ff makes an open circle, but I caught my shift just fine nonetheless. I like knowing what's going on with my body, and know which DPO I actually am, instead of asking ladies on here questions about my cycle, and not even knowing where I actually am in it, kwim?

I don't chart at all.My temp seems to go up and down daily for no reason so it is just a confusing pain in the butt for me. I use OPKs intead and they work great. No confusion with them and I get a good heads up when I am about to ovualte. Everyone has to do it their own way and if you're trying something, like charting, that doesn't really work for you then the TTC process will be that more frustrating and not enjoyable. PLENTY of people have gotten pregnant without charting.
