What would/do you do?

We are planning my DS 1st birthday party and working on the guest list. Do you send invitations to the family that live out of town and you know will not come?

They are all people that if they lived closer we know they would come but it's a 3 hour drive that most have only made for our wedding... not for my other DSs 1st birthday either.

I would. I send invites to family 8 hours away knowing they can't come. It would bother them if I didn't.

I would send them. i'm planning my son's 1st birthday/baptism as well and i'm sending them out even to people who are out of country. the invitations we made have his picture on them so it's a great keepsake even if they can't make it.

If its someone you talk to regularly, I would. Its a nice gesture. They might come t see everyone.

I would though maybe suggest they do not need to send a gift? I know I don't like it when someone has sent an invite they know I can't make it to expecting just the gift.
