What's the process of going to IUI to IVF?

If your IUI fails do they immediately begin prepping you for an IVF if that us what your RE said is next, or do you take a month off? Curious!

With mine we chose to take a month off, not sure if it is necessary. I am sure each RE has their own preferences. Good luck.

My RE had me go directly from IUI into IVF prep.  It took 1 full cycle for prep and then we did the ER and ET.

Here's a question about the prep needed- would I be able to go away for 4 days and not have to worry about monitoring?

It all depends on where you are at in your cycle and what protocol you are using. There are many differences in each one.

Ok thank you! I'm still waiting to trigger for IUI 2, I just like to know what to expect and if I will be able to continue and keep my trip. I will just have to wait and see. Thanks!

I agree with Mandalinn25.  That it depends on what your RE plans to do and where your at cycle-wise.

My prep month was not too terrible.  I started on BCP first and then started Lupron and an antibiotic on day 17 of that cycle.  I didn't have a whole lot of RE monitoring during that time.

    Hello! :)

I had 3 failed IUI's and my RE started me on IVF right after. I am currently at the beginning of my first IVF cycle. I know they put you on birth control for a whole month to calm your ovaries. Maybe that's what your RE was doing? Good luck!

I agree with the previous posters.

I also had 3 failed IUIs.  After the last IUI, my RE started me on my first IVF.  I was on birth control form about 3 weeks to calm my overies before they started stimming them.  The only monitoring was after I came off the birth control.

So depending on when your trip is, you still may be able to go.  They can keep you on birth control for a few days longer, which is nice if you have something you are planning around.

GL with this IUI.  And I hope you can still go on your trip.

IF sucks.  And it makes planning anything fun so difficult!
