Starting Clomid... Tips? Advice?

Hi ladies,
I'm starting my first round of Clomid tomorrow (50mg) and I'm kinda nervous. Does anyone have any tips, suggestions, or things/ side effects I should brace myself for?

#1 Rule - Make sure that you are monitored correctly by your Dr!!
The only noticeable side effect that I had was hot flashes. They were not fun, but nothing awful. Good luck!

Everyone has a slightly different experience. But with me the first time on clomid, I had very little side effects at all. Slightly warmer - but I wouldn't call them hot flashes. Slightly moodier but I wouldn't say anger. And really bad cramping pain in my ovaries getting stronger every day until two days past O.
The second time I took it the s/e were stronger. Def. Hot Flashes, def. moodiness, and again the O pains.
All in all I don't think it's bad at all, the pain was just a reminder that I had good egg follie. Good luck!

Good luck! This is my first cycle on 50 mg of Clomid (monitored). I felt a bit warm (but not hot flashes) with little to no other side effects. The only other thing I've noticed is no EW CM (did have some water CM a few days ago).
Someone suggested to me to take Clomid at night to help cut down on the side effects.

I did a couple rounds and had very few s/e. I was a little warmer than usual but not real hot flashes and nothing turning down the AC a few degrees can't help. Moody - yes but to be perfectly honest, I think I am moody with or without Clomid. Both times, on the second day that I took it, I had some cramping in my ovaries about an hour after the pill. Nothing terrible though. Definitely take it at night - you'll be able to sleep through the discomfort if you have any.

I had no side effects with 50mg. I did take it at night, with dinner, so maybe that helped.
However, I didn't ovulate on 50mg. Hopefully 100mg works.
Baby Boy born sleeping at 20 weeks.
I was crazy bloated and had quite a bit of ovary-ish pain early and until O on my first cycle @ 50mg.
2nd cycle we got PG (!!!!) but it ended in a loss.:(
Depending on how many follicles you produce and how big they are, you could have some pain around O time which makes intercourse a little less fun.
I didn't and haven't experienced any moodiness on my 6 cycles, which have all been at 50mgs because I've responded well.
Also, you may have heightened expecations for this cycle. We certainly did and AF after our first Clomid cycle was a real letdown. But hang in there.

Long story: trying on our own + testing testing testing with 6 rounds of Clomid, more testing, injectables + TI, laparoscopy - one tube blocked, 2 IUIs with Follistim...BFNs.
RPL testing all normal, Karyotyping normal
Moving on to IVF.
IVF #1 April 2012 = BFN, IVF #2 June 2012 = BFP. U/S 7/23 = saw heartbeat but measuring behind. Follow up U/S on 7/30 - no heartbeat. D&C 8/2. Trisomy 12. IVF #3 Oct 2012 = Chemical Pregnancy
Phone consult with CCRM on 12/12/12 - ODWU 1/4/13 - both tubes clear(!) - AFC 24, AMH 3.2, FSH 9.6, LH 5.4, E2 25. DH has high frag rate but improved!
IVF #4 March 2013 CCRM. EP protocol w/ Menopur, Gonal-F & Dexamethasone. ER 3/29 & IMSI, PICSI. 43R 13M 10F 6blasts bio'd. CCS testing reveals 3 normals!!!
FET 5/31/13 of 1 4AA blast - thawed and expanded. 4dp5dt BFP.
Beta 9dp5dt = 181, 11dp5dt = 427. 1st u/s showed a healthy heartbeat! EDD 2/16/14
After 4 years of hoping and heartbreak, our sweet little bean was born on 2/19/14

I admitt my expectaions have been pretty high especially since I have been working on weight loss at the same time. But I know that all I can do is hope, wait, and PRAY!

This is my 2nd month on Clomid, first month 50mg no response - and im currently on day 17 of my cycle of 100mg of Clomid. i'm crossing my fingers hoping i ovulate this month so i have a chance! but i'm trying not to get my hopes up. i went off BCP in December and haven't ovulated yet since
got tested in May and found out i have PCOS, so each cycle i have to have provera to induce my cycle since i don't ovulate.
Side effects will effect each person differently. I definitely got moody and easily irritated
i caught myself picking fights for no reason! and i got hot flashes, but they weren't bad at all and only lasted a few seconds. Month 1 i took my medicine randomly through the days...this month i took it at the exact same time each morning with my prenatal, hoping maybe it will have a different effect!

I did 4 50mg rounds of Clomid with success of ovulation each round, but no pregnancy. I decided on month 5 to go off of Clomid and I ovulated on my own. Sides effects included 10lb weight gain, mood swings, headaches and hot flashes. Two pregnancies, first miscarried and 22 month old. Did not expect that it would be difficult this time around.
I am currently on my 4th round of Clomid. No pregnacies to report. I did have some hot nights and little bit of moodiness. I did feel some sensitivnies in my ovaries during my cycle. Also during intercourse it was a little painful. Hopefully this is my last round. I'm on my 2nd day of my ovulation kit.
Hi Bianca: I took Clomid (& HCG trigger shots) a total of 4 times. I was seeing an infertility specialist for "unexplained infertility" and was being monitored with ultrasounds and blood work frequently while on and off meds. I had horrible hot flashes, and it thinned out my lining more and more every month that I took it. The first month I ovulated 7 eggs on the right side only! I had an iui, and was in a lot of pain for about 2-3 hours after the iui....This was b/c of the large # of eggs I was releasing. As you can see, I had an over-reaction to the 50mg's I was taking. (I was ovulating normally on my own, btw. The dr's like to see 2, maybe 3 eggs at the MOST tho). In the months after that, I was only releasing 2-3 eggs from both ovaries, but my lining went from a 6 or 7 the first time, to a 4 the next, then a 3 the last 2 times, which really leaves you no option of implantation. Everyone reacts different to the meds tho. After Clomid, I went on to take Tamoxifen (20mg) & HCG and still had no luck, but my lining was great. Some months I even had a 10 or higher! I guess it really was just the stress of thinking about getting pregnant constantly and focusing so much on it. We decided to finally stop seeing the specialists and focus on a mortgage for our house, and got pregnant that month naturally! Its much easier said then done when people say "just don't think about it and it will happen!" HA! Its impossible when you want something so bad, and everyone around you is getting pregnant. I survived my first round of Clomid!!! I took it every night before bed and I can say that I had very little side-effects if any... I did have very interesting dreams though and was very tearful on day 3 and 4. So here I am CD14 and still no
on the ovulation test but we'll see what happens in the next few days cause lord knows my DH is dying to get some baby making sex in!!! LOL

Are you waiting for a +OPK or will you be going to your doctor for a follicle ultrasound to see how you responded?
