Baby Names

WDYT: Alexander/ Xander Gabriel

We would call him (if it's a him, just brainstorming right now) Xander but I sort of like the idea of giving him more options as an adult by choosing Alexander.

Alexander Gabriel or Xander Gabriel

Thoughts on either?

  • Alexander Gabriel.  Xander is nice as a NN, but I don't care for it as a stand alone name.

  • The names are nms, but I would definitely use Alexander. Like you said, give him options.

  • I really like Alexander. I think that Xander would be good for a nn, but not for a first name.

  • Love Alexander Gabriel! Not a fan of Zander at all. If anything, use it as a nn and go with Alexander as the given name.

  • Definitely Alexander! I really like Xander as a NN, but it's not meant to be a stand alone first name, IMO. :)

    Yes!  I agree!

  • alexander is  great. in fact if my second child is a boy we planned to name him jayden alexander alex for short
  • Alexander is such a classic name.  "Xander" screams "I was born between 2007 and 2011."
  • Alexander.

I'm not a fan of Xander.

  • LOVE Alexander Gabriel. Xander as a stand alone name makes me think of Vin Deisel in XXX - not something I would want to use as my DS's name.

  • Xander Gabriel is my choice for sure! I really don't like the name Alexander, and Xander is going to be unique. There won't be 3 other kids in his class with the same name if you name him Xander. I'm a fan of more unique names anyways though. It seems I stand alone.

Not a fan of Xander, especially not as a formal name.

This. At least give him the full name even if you don't use it.
