TTC After a Loss

How to stay pregnant

So I was wondering if anyone has a list somewhere, of all the things to do, once you receive a BFP, to stay pregnant.  Obviously take it easy, folic acid, don't drink, rest, no smoking...  But I've heard things about pomegranate,  B6, baby aspirin, progesterone, are there any other suggestions that others have tried and been successful with?

In my waiting to see my specialist I've decided to take the baby aspirin and progesterone.   But I've heard about this other kind of progesterone that my girlfriend took, it's a brown gel that she takes orally.  I've been considering getting that as she has done research on it and is convinced this is why she conceived her beautiful son (and kept taking it despite concerns of doctors who didn't even know what NORMAL pregnancy progesterone levels are supposed to be... interesting).

Just curious what other people have tried.

The baby aspirin and progesterone can't hurt but no need for aspirin if you don't have a clotting issue. Have you had a RPL? I haven't conceived naturally so progesterone has just been part of my IF treatments...RE has OKed me taking them 3dpo should we try on our own before going back in June to talk next steps. He also OKed the baby aspirin and extra folic acid in case of a clotting disorder.

As far as the pom juice, pineapple, etc, they are usually used during a cycle. I know pineapple is supposed to help with implantation.

  • Oh I wish there was a magic plan on things to do! Best thing to do is to practice good health. Eat right, take your PNV, drink lots of water and listen to your doctor. And even doing all of that is not going to guarentee you staying pregnant.

People who smoke, drink, do drugs, eat unhealthy, etc... have healthy babies all of the time.

  • Thank you ladies!  Unfortunately i don't know what a lot of the testing is - which honestly is ridiculous considering I've had five miscarriages - and frustrating because it all points to lack of concern on the part of my doc.  They did blood testing and found that I did not have any clotting disorder and the RH factor thing or what not.  They did a hysteroscopy to ensure nothing inside is wrong, and I was fine.  The doctor pretty much threw his hands up in the air with a "something is going wrong, I just can't figure out what it is".  He put me on progesterone after the 4th miscarriage (never having tested my progesterone levels and telling me that it's not actually proven).  This got me much farther than I had ever gone before, having a heartbeat and good HCG levels (the first time they ever tested that).  So when I lost the baby this time he told me he's referring me to a specialist at Duke and that she'll probably do all the same tests and put me on progesterone and baby aspirin.  Which is why i was kind of taking that into my own hands -- I know that I don't have the clotting disorder, but there have been writings that the baby aspirin has other benefits not having to do with preventing clotting.  Ah heck I dunno.  You're all right, there is no magic bullet... I'm just so fed up of being let down and the hurt that I feel like I'm just sitting here grasping at straws waiting to see the specialist.  I just don't want to go through a miscarriage again and there is a potential that I'm pregnant right now (won't know for a few more days).  So I'm trying to be extra cautious and do everything right and dive into all the "safe" wives tales, blah blah blah.... I swear I'd put a lucky penny in places unseen if someone told me it would work lol
