IMO, April fools is an awful holiday where you basically lie to people to get a laugh.  I would especially not want to joke about pre-term labor.  Sorry.

  • my doctor said i was full term, everything is going good and he is completely healthy!

  • I think that's a terrible joke but the OP is almost 38 weeks - that's not joking about preterm labor.
    Baby #3 on the way!
  • i think this is a terrible idea for a joke.

  • I couldn't bring myself to make a joke like that. I dont think its funny, even at 8 days past my due date.

  • I could never do that to our parents - they are way to excited about becoming grandparents and faking it would probably tick them off...they certainly wouldn't be laughing about it.
  • I say go for it, but be careful what you wish for - DH's parents tried that joke, and he ended up coming less than 8 hours later! :)
  • I agree with PPs.  It seems a bit harsh just for the sake of a joke.
  • April Fools only lasts til noon, just an FYI. Best wait til next year.

  • I dont understand why these women tell you their opinnion against your idea when you didnt ask for it. All of them should shush.

I think it is a funny idea, im going to do it to my FI later tonight hehehe :) If you are with them grab a glass of water and spill it on yourself and the floor. thats what i plan to do. If your not with them I have no ideas for ya except to call.

  • I just told my DH when he called from work that my water broke.... I have to say it was quite entertaining. I only let him think that for a second and he said he almost had a heart attack but wasn't mad about it, it was pretty funny.

People are so judging.... some people are more laid back I guess and see the fun in jokes in life and april fools!

  • HAHA! I am laughing at the thought :) I like the "spill water on yourself & the floor" idea the PP mentioned. If I was full term & did that to my parents they would think it was hysterical! Just see their reaction then tell them. It would be kinda mean to go through with it to far!

If you know your family & they would think it is funny then do it! My whole family grew up doing practical jokes & are pretty laid back so I think it depends on your background as to if you think this is a good idea or not.

  • Will you guys be in the same house? Dump a glass of water on the floor while facing away from them? Lol.. Idk why everyone is being so sensitive about it. I think it would be pretty funny. You could turn around with the empty glass pretty quick and they would know you were joking w/o too much suspense.
  • I think it's funny too, if I was farther along I would have done it to my DH.  What about a water balloon up your dress/pants then stick a pin in it???

The only funny part of this entire thread.

It's not that I don't have a sense of humor.  I just think the I'm single/pregnant/dying/in labor type pranks are lame and unoriginal.

  • I actually thought about it myself but everyone had been playing April Fools jokes since midnight... So I just helped out a friend and peed on 3 pregnancy tests for her and played a prank on her boyfriend. It was funny, she went to great lengths to make it believable. He works until 3 am so she let him sleep on it and then told him when he woke up!
