My husband has suggested this name, and I want to get your opinion on it - Darby. We will probably pair it with Maeve as the middle name, but not sure.
I love Maeve, but I think Darby is a horrible name for a girl. Or a boy for that matter, but most definitely for a girl. I could handle it as a NN, but I have no idea what for.
not my style, and for some reason it makes me think more of a pet's name than a girl. although julia roberts' character in the pelican brief was Darby Shaw.

It sounds a bit like Derby. NMS.

Eh. It's okay. I kind of like it, but I also kind of get a pet name vibe from it. I think Darcy is a little more sophisticated and, well, human.
I adore Maeve, though.
So I'm the only one that's mind went straight to Doby from Harry Potter?

Darby reminds me of a large big-boned woman who will play softball or at least have a square jawbone.
Maeve is gorgeous... I love that it's growing in popularity.
side note:Isn't Darby the name of girl who replaced Christopher Robin on Winnie the Pooh?
