Go with what you want. I am in a similiar situation. I love the show "The Middle" and as a joke I said if I had a boy I'd name him "Brick" after the little boy in the show.
Needless to say I've been crucified over and over (even on these boards) for even pondering the name. What started off as a joke, has become one of our top 5 names. We would probably spell it Bric or Bryk. Actually the name grew on SO many people that my close friends, family and co--workers ask me daily "How's Bric?" We aren't 100% sold on it yet because we do have other names we are considering. But if we decide not to go that way it will most definiltey be a knickname.
I come from a family of teachers and in this day and age no name is off limits. And I'm not worried about kids making fun of my child's name, these days kid make fun of anything..even if your child's name is Mike.

I like it. I definitely don't think it's a girly name.
(I asked DH and he immediately said "boy"...but he's not a fan. So we're a split household on this one.)

It really is your opinion, you will find that most bumpies are fans of original/classic names. I love uncommon names. I dont want another Charlotte, Charles or Matthew.
That said, it reminds me of Lux from Life Unexpected & I love that name
They also call John Lock from Lost "Lock". I think its kind of cool, like Cash, Bronx, Blaize or Gage, which is one of our top runners.
Go with what your heart tells you. If you can say it out loud and love it and say it to other people and be proud, I think you have your little boys name
You are lucky, we have a long way to go....
P.S. The more you share your favorite name the more negative comments you will get and the more you will second guess it. If you choose it and dont share it until after he is born, people usually keep their comments to themselves once the cute LO is here
