Not only has Aubrey had diarrhea all week long, and ruining all her outfits.. She is now throwing up all her bottles.. including her pedialite.. Her Pedi said if she isnt better by tomorrow to bring her back in for an antibiotic.. which he didnt want to do bc that gives you even more diarrhea.. lovely..

  • I'm sorry she is sick.

But, FML is when your child is scheduled for surgery tomorrow (like mine is).  Not when they have a little bit of diarrhea.  I think you need some perspective.

Or maybe I am just not in a good place given the state of my own child's health.

  • Put her on some probiotics and deal with it for a bit. You are going to have far worse weeks than this, you're lucky she's not so sick to the point of being hospitalized. This is normal baby stuff. I hope she starts feeling better soon. ETA: didn't mean to quote LCB

I think FML is more for what she's saying. . like damn my life sucks b/c I am being inconvenienced by cleaning up tons of barf diarrhea.  My child going to have surgery would cause me to pray, not curse my life.  Just sayin'.

Seriously though, lots of love to your LO for surgery.  Maack had to get an IV placed (11 stick tries over 2 days), then was taped to a table for 48 minutes for a renal scan and it was the worst/saddest experience of my life.

I'm going to go with the benefit of the doubt here and say that it is. Its horrible that your DD is so sick and needs surgery, but right now, in Fish's world, her DD being sick and having diarrhea and vomitting more then qualifies as an "FML"

You two are both asses. She's having a rough week. This is the worst that's happened to her, so in her opinion, this is considered an FML. Sorry your kid is having surgery, I'm sure that's rough. Just so you know LCB, you DON'T have to be a b*tch every single time you post...and you don't always have to one up everyone. It's true! I had a sick kid in the hospital and she has been battling diarrhea ever since she was put on antibiotics. I never once said FML or felt it to be so bad that I had to post about it. It's all par for the course. I gave her sound advice: put your kid on probiotics. Seriously. It really helps. To Fish: the pedi's never once suggested probiotics until a specialist saw my DD. The reason is because it in no way benefits the doctors or pharmaceutical companies if they recommend a child being put on probiotics. It's good for their intestines and stomach and I highly recommend it.

LCB- I'm sincerely sorry for all that you're going through with you LO. It must be an awful feeling knowing your child is having so many problems, but it's not necessary to knock someone else down like that. Everyone is entitled to have their own bad days and it isn't a contest as to whose day is worse.

Fish- I'm sorry you're having such a bad day. Hopefully she'll bounce back soon.

Oh and diarrhea all day isn't 'normal baby stuff'... it's a signal that something is wrong.

  • Fish, everyone comes here to vent from time to time. And having a baby with diarrhea for a week straight does suck, and is vent-worthy. I am so sorry you are having such a rough time! Hope she starts feeling better soon.

LCB, benefit of the doubt on the response because you are going through a lot of really tough things with your baby. Max, no excuse for you being a snot. Shrugs. There are different levels of difficult things going on in everyone's life. Just because someone says they are having a hard time with diarrhea, doesn't mean that they aren't thankful for the overall good health of their child. And it doesn't mean that they don't recognize that others may be worse off.

There are babies much worse off than yours, does that mean that you shouldn't post ever about the struggles with your child, LCB? No, of course not. Because regardless of what your struggles are, it is nice to have someone lend an ear or be supportive. No matter how big or small.

However, if you know your not in a good place because of what your LO is going through then don't comment on posts like this one. We're all entitled to complain/vent about what's going on with our LO's regardless of how minor some people might think it is.

@ Fish, I am so sorry about your LO...I imagine it's quite rough.

@LCB Yeah, yeah...I'm sure that whatever you're going through gives you the right to be judgmental about what others are going through. I try not to respond to people like you often but if you're going through as much as you say you're going through then why do you have the time or energy to respond to a post like this where you have nothing helpful to say? Oh, yeah...you want to draw attention back to yourself. Heaven forbid anyone else wants to vent about their lives and yes, there will always be someone who has it worse.

Hey, how about this? Maybe FML isn't meant for you either b/c even though your child is having surgery tomorrow I'm betting that another baby somewhere is having surgery that is even more difficult with possibly even more dire results than your daughter's surgery.

Also, FWIW, I'm willing to bet that if your little girl was perfect healthy you'd still be just as judgmental. You know what? You choose how life affects you...you can either let things in your life make you a better person or you can choose the route you've taken and become someone who judges others and has that holier than thou attitude b/c you think you have have such a difficult lot in life. Grow up and take responsibility for your own actions, don't keep blaming it on your poor sick daughter.

    Oh, FFS.

Having a sick child sucks and I can't even begin to imagine how horrible it must be to have a child with serious health problems. Still, someone should be allowed to vent about having a rough week without being scolded. Someone mentioned perspective? Go read that Baby Scarlett blog and get some.

Yes Totally agree about the Scarlett blog.. That poor peanut.. Link in my siggy.

:( I am sorry to hear your week is the suck. Hope she feels better and soon!

Where is nowhere, by the way? (I am in PA, too, so just curious!)

    YGPM    Smile

    You, too!

And FWIW, I believe it's alright to be worried about your child no matter how severe his or her condition is. After all, what kind of mom would you be if you didn't worry? (Whether it be an underlying medical condition or diarrhea, etc.)

I wish nothing but happy and healthy babies to all!

I agree with you OBH Smile

Fish - I'm sorry you're having a sucky day/week.  I totally understand the frustration of poopy clothes being ruined and spitting up bottle after bottle.

    To everyone else:

There is no such thing as the Pain Olympics.  You do not get prizes for who has the sh!ittiest life.   One person's hellish day will be another's Tuesday.  Everyone needs to get over themselves.

That's all I have to say about that.

    Yes
