Is it strange to anyone...

I am 12 and a half weeks and I have yet to even be booked in to an ultrasound, I haven't heard the baby's heartbeat (at the dr's office, I have a home doppler I heard it on, thank heavens for that), I haven't been weighed yet. In fact I think all that's been done so far is the initial blood work... and I have had 4 appointments already and I'm in the high risk category. Does this seem strange to anyone else? Or is this normal.

Some doctors don't attempt to listen to the HB until after 12 weeks. Some doctors don't do u/s until 20 weeks. Not all do NT scans. It is odd that you've not been weighed.
However, since you are high-risk, it does all seem odd. Have you brought it up with your doctor?
Some doctors don't do anything until you're "in the clear" (13 weeks). My dr didn't listen for the heartbeat until 14 weeks and if I hadn't been at the fertility clinic we probably wouldn't have had a u/s until the NT scan (which is elective, so if you haven't spoken up about it they may not know you want one).
I'm just wondering how they put you in the high risk category without really checking up on you? Is it a pre-existing condition? Is your OB one that specializes in high risk?
Extremely strange. I have a very low-risk pregnancy and have been weighed at every appt as well as heard the heartbeat. I also had my first ultrasound at about 7 weeks. I would ask your doctor about this.
Also, I believe I read you're in Canada- here the only scan that is required here is the 20 week. An early dating or NT scan is at the discretion of your doctor and your decision respectively. Heartbeat monitoring is done from 10-13 weeks on, so if you've recently had an appointment they're probably waiting until next month's check up. BP and weight should be done at every appointment, but even the fertility clinic forgot about it with me until 10 weeks and they're pretty thorough with everything else.
When you read about people getting tons of u/s remember that 1. some of them are coming from fertility clinics where lots of early monitoring is done and 2. most of the women on the board are from the US, so things are done a bit differently. If you have concerns raise them with your doctor, though I'm still a bit concerned that your dr labeled you high risk and then didn't do anything about it.
This super casual approach to your care and the care of your baby would not sit well with me.
I went to my reg doctor at 6 weeks when i found out i was pg.
At 8 wks Iwent to the OB to meet everyone and get a lot of info.
I had bleeding at 10 wks so we recieved an US to check the baby then.
At 12 weeks the OB could not hear the heartbeat so she wheeled the portable machine in and did an US.
I heard the heartbeat at 16 weeks and 20 weeks.
I had my anatomy scan at 19 weeks and a follow up one at 21 weeks.
I was weighed and gave a urine sample at every single office visit.
I would be looking elsewhere if i were you.
Again, sadly, small town, and this is it for me as for places to go until he refers me. He said he would refer me to an OB in a near-by city and a specialist who deals with pregnancy in diabetes. So far, I've only heard from the diabetic clininc and that was only after I ended up in the E.R. with severe low blood sugar and it wasn't even my doctor it was the doctor in the E.R. that called because I have been on an insulin pump and he straight out told me "To be honest I'm not to familiar with how those work, I need to get a hold of someone else that specializes with this." and he called right away while I was still in the E.R. to get it straightened out. And every appointment I have that I ask him about it he says "Ya ya I just gotta refer you."
