2nd Trimester

Forgetting your pregnant?

This pregnancy has been a breeze so far, and I keep forgetting I am pregnant. Even worse now that I am approaching 2nd tri and the food aversions have calmed down. I don't have a bump yet, and haven't gained any weight. I just feel normal. I hate the in between stage! Anyone else with me?

Re: Forgetting your pregnant?

  • I've been in that stage for a while.  Now the baby moves a lot, so there isn't any forgetting.
  • I'm still in that stage. And I haven't felt any serious kicks. No one can tell I'm pregnant, and winter clothes don't help. I wouldn't believe it if it weren't for the u/s and hearing his heartbeat on the doppler.

  • I am the same way, Im 14 weeks and I still havent gained any weight, I dont feel like im showing at all and I have had zero symtpoms. Without hearing the heartbeat and seeing the pics, I would swear I really wasnt pregnant. Im pretty sure this wont last long, for either of us, so enjoy it while it lasts.

  • Thanks! I just need the constant reassurance that I am not the only one! Also, I meant to put "you're" in the subject, not "your"...I am a teacher and that is bugging meStick out tongue

  • I'm right there with you. My bump comes and goes - apparently hormones and what you eat have more to do with the size of the bump at this stage than the size of the baby does.  My boobs no longer hurt and smells do not bother me as much as they used to.

I haven't forgotten I"m pregnant, but the novelity has worn off a little.  Bummer....hopefully it will resume once I'm showing more.

I'm just going to try to enjoy the increased energy and lack of symptoms as I too am certain they will come back or others will start.

  • I have a definite bump, feel like crap a lot of the time and still manage to forget I'm pregnant sometimes.  A friend came over earlier in the week and asked me, "So when are you due again?" and for a second I got really offended because I forgot I was pregnant!  Haha!  Luckily I remembered before answering him.  Embarrassed

  • Oh heck yes. I totally know what you mean. I keep forgetting my pregnant everywhere I go! I left it at the grocery store just yesterday.

  • ugh, yes. I'm almost 14 weeks and yesterday I fit into my pre pregnancy jeans. I keep getting bloated and feeling fat but it just comes and goes. Now that I'm not nauseous anymore (hurray) I just feel like a fatty. All I've wanted to do lately is relax, knit and sit on my butt and when I get outside for a walk I get winded walking over a mile, which seems silly. I have this body chart that shows an average woman growing throughout the weeks of her pregnancy and she doesn't really start showing until week 16-20. I've already heard the baby's heartbeat which is amazing but the waiting for movement is still difficult.

I'm a doula and a first time mom. I've spent so much time studying labor and birth I never gave any thought to the first trimester or how emotionally difficult and awkward it can be. Pregnancy is crazy.

Ha ha ha...if you are poking fun of my grammatical error, I did try to edit it because I realized as soon as I did it, but the bump wouldn't let me for some reason. Trust me, it's annoying me. Stick out tongue

  • Yep, I forgot. I have no belly, no knows yet and I feel pretty good. I felt a bit of morning sickness and tiredness. DH keeps remind me asI cannot eat certain things and he worries about me.
  • I still feel like this some days. I definitely know what you mean. We ALL were forgetting I was pregnant. Plus, DS is a major distraction. So I miss focusing on this pregnancy like I did with him. I noticed EVERY little thing when pregnant with DS. I feel like I don't have a connection with my body...

It will change, dear. The taps and kicks are finally happening for me. It's late this time around for me too. Hang in there!

  • Yes, mam. This is my first pregnancy so I can't believe I would forget, but there are brief moments when I do. Not for long though, someone or something is always there to remind me. My little brother just turned five and is stoked about being "Unlce Michael." He kisses my belly everyday, I love it. =)
  • I am 17 weeks pregnant...have not had one 'pregnancy symptom' and forget I am pregnant all of the time.
