It was suggested on Baby Name Wizard. I am looking for "long" names for Ari. I ran it by my hubby and I think he liked it, but it's striking me as a little made up. I don't want to stretch for a name, I want a *real* name. WDYT?

At first glance, and when I say it out loud (not exactly sure how it's supposed to be pronounced), it sounds like I'm saying Elias witha speech impediment. Would you consider Arik or Arin? I still like Ari on its own, though.
I don't know what's up with my siggy and I am too lazy to figure it out.
I don't think it needs a longer name, but Arias isn't bad, though it isn't showing up on behind the name or nameberry.
Here are the 'ari' names that come up on Nameberry.
You obviously really like Ari, so I hope you find something you're comfortable with. I don't think Ari is too girly, FWIW, unless you pair it with Elliot. Then all I hear is Ari-Elly-ot, which is very sing-songy. Ariel is also a good name and people will stop associating the little mermaid once they get to know your LO, IMO.

It's pronounced ahr-EE-us.

I knew I had to be saying it wrong! I actually like it.
BTW, are you finding out the sex?

I agree that Ari Elliot is a little too up-down-up-down. I REALLY like Ari Alexander, but there is a baby in our close family named Ammon Alexander. I feel like that's too close.

Yes, although I'm secretly hoping the baby doesn't show his/her goods. I would be fine with Team Green, but one of DH's "requirements" for a third baby was that we would find out again. He feels like it gives him a better connection to the baby, which I get, but it would be fun to be surprised!

Why do you need a long name? Ari is a name on its own and a great one. Arias makes me think of the opera.
I know you're right that Ari stands fine on it's own. I probably just need to just get over wanting a long name for it. FWIW I do very much like Ariel but H just isn't into it.

Sorry to butt in here, but can I ask you a question? We LOVE the name Ari, but we aren't Jewish, so we have pretty much crossed it off the list. Are you Jewish? Sorry if that's an awkward question.

Hey. So this may come as totally off the wall and strange- but DH and I are naming our LO Kadarious if its a boy. Pronounced either Kade-are-ee-ous or Kuh-dar-ee-ous. And his nickname will be ari. HTH!

OH! I know a kid who goes by R.E., pronounced the same as Ari, but his name is Robert Edward.
I know that's not what you're looking for but I thought I'd toss it out there in case it sparks something.

I'm not sure I like Arias , do LOVE Ari though.
Aristo works for me as a boys name or Ariste/Arista,
or would the proper long version of the Greek Aristotle be better,
Ariad, is more strong too
I think Arias is too mich like Aries or Ariel,
Good Luck!
I think it's a good name.
Some more names...
.
Alaric/ Alarik
Aristaeus/ Aristeo/ Ariston
Mariano? Mario?
Omar
Zachariah (too much of a stretch?)
