This might be province-specific, so you might not be able to help, but did most of you Canadian mommas-to-be have growth ultrasounds? My doc hasn't mentioned it (I'll ask at my appointment Thursday) but most women I know only got one u/s at 20-ish weeks. I'd love to see LO again and have an idea of how big he/she will be, but it seems more common in the States. Anyone know?
I guess technically now I should be SecondBabyMomma
I only received 1 U/S at 20 weeks. We don't get the growth U/S unless necessary.
They did do an U/S around 30 weeks because I had really high blood pressure and that could cause problems in the baby's growth. Other than that only 1.
I only had the IPS scan and the anatomy scan at 22 weeks. I think they only give you another scan if they need to check something specific -- ex. they want to check if baby is breech, so I have another scan coming up this week.
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living my baby you'll be.

I only had the one at 20wks. They won't do another one unless it's called for. I would really like to know where he's at too but I doubt i'll find out until it's time!
the 20 week u/s would have been our last but a few weeks ago I didn't really feel her move for most of a day so they gave me one. I've only heard of people getting later U/S's here if there is an issue.
Not standard here in the Yukon either, we use BC guidelines, but I asked for one because I felt like LO might be on the small side. My Dr. gave me one, and I'm glad she did! He had some issues and now we are off to see a few specialists in Vancouver. If you feel like something is wrong or are worried at all, just ask.
We would have only had the anatomy scan if we were having a singleton. I declined the IPS screen. Only reason I have growth scans is b/c the twins share a placenta.

Here in NL it is completely dependent on your OB. Mine always does a 32-34 week growth scan, other OB's don't necessarily. I have two friends due around the same time as me, one got a growth scan, one did not. We all have different OBs.
I know that in NB you only get one u/s at around 18 weeks, but they'll tell you the gender if you want to know. Its basically the same in NS...I had an u/s when I was medivac'ed a couple weeks ago and found the baby was big, so in 3 weeks I have to go back for another one to assess her size. These aren't standard procedures though... guess its different for each province.
I am in AB but from SK, I have had 2 one at 8 weeks right after we found out, one at 20 weeks for anatomy and not one since, but I am told they may do another. I think it depends ALOT on your Doc though and what they believe my good friend is 6 weeks behind me in SK and the clinic she first attended flat out refused to send her until she was AT LEAST 20 weeks they said it was their policy ( she finally had it last week at 22 weeks when she got in to see the OB I recommended), but a friend of my fam is an OB in SK and gave me one right away in his office, which is standard for him.
In Ontario it seems to be normal to get a dating ultrasound (at less than 12 weeks), then an anatomy ultrasound. They do not do a growth ultrasound unless something unusual comes up. I have to go for a growth ultrasound this week since my fundal height measurement is off the charts. Otherwise I would not have had one.
Your 18 week ultrasound was not to 'get the gender'. It was an anatomy scan to make sure all the organs were growing and developing properly. Finding out the sex was a bonus.

You could always do the 3D one though!

I'm in Alberta
I had one at 6 weeks to date the baby
one at 18 weeks to get the gender
one at 26 weeks to check up on the baby's growth
one at 36 weeks for the biophysical profile
I've seen lots of my baby girl

Same here.
Besides, growth ultrasounds are notoriously wrong. All they will do is make you worry that your baby is too big or too small.
