My doc says there are new guidelines that say you should wait until 18 months to start trying to have a baby again. Anyone hear the same? Or anyone trying for a baby sooner than the recommended 18 months? Just curious. TIA.
I'm going to take to my doctor about it next month when I go in for my annual - but I have been doing some research and everything I have found is saying 18 months (they are also saying 18 months for a vaginal birth as well, it's all about letting your body heal - no matter how that baby came out!)
But since I am a c/s mom, I'm going to go by whatever the doctor says next month, after that appointment my DH and I are going to sit down and start planning out when we will TTC again.

When I had my 1st c-section my Dr said not to get pregnant for at least a year and that waiting 2 years would be best. My son was just about to turn two when I got pregnant with him and was 2 years 8 months when dd was born.

Did you have a VBAC or a repeat c/s? This is something else I think about all the time... I have no idea what I want to do! Thankfully, I have some time to mull it over

My OB offered me the option of VBAC, which I had originally wanted to try for, but in my 3rd trimester I decided to go with a repeat c-section. My first birth experience was horrible and after my emergency c-section I suffered from terrible post partum depression. I didn't want to deal with the possibility that I would have to have another emergency c-section after hours of painful labor. The scheduled, repeat c-section was a great experience and the recovery was super easy.
I'm not pregnant again but I want to wait at least 18 months. The doctor told me my internal stitches would not disolve for 6 months so I would think it would take awhile after that to be completely healed.

I found out I was pregnant with DS 2 weeks before DD turned 1. I was never told to wait, and my OB knew we were trying when DD was 8 months old. I had a repeat c-section.

I asked my doc at my annual last month if the next one wasn't breech, could we do a VBAC? But he said not likely. I always wanted a vaginal birth as well. But my c-section was scheduled, so it was also nice walking in to have the c-section under no stress and had no contractions either. Good luck. I'm back on the pill, so plan to go off about 3 months prior to the 18months to start TTC. Doc said that was okay.

BTW, I see that you are in Coral Springs. I lived in Coconut Creek when I had DS and delivered at West Boca. I remember asking around after I had him and was told that its very hard to find a dr in South Florida who will do a VBAC.

See, these are the experiences I have heard as well. All good ones. Did you have any problems with the c-section, recovery, etc.?

I delivered my first at Northwest Hospital in Margate. My doc is in Coral Springs. He won't do a VBAC. And you're right, it's very hard to find a doc in South Florida who will do a VBAC. So a repeat c-section is what I'll have one day!
I was told to wait 18 months by my OB and a MFM specialist. We originally wanted to try when DS was 1, but adding extra risks because I am too impatient to wait 6 extra months is silly. I won't try for a VBAC. I was hapy with my experience.
DH and I originally wanted to wait until DD was 6 months old before we TTC, but we ended up getting pregnant now. I'm about 10.5 weeks. My doctor said it was "ideal" to wait a year or two, but when I went in for my first appointment, he said everything would be okay. I just have to take it easy. I will be having a repeat c-section.

Zero complications, recovery was about the same. If anything, I might have been sore a little longer but that's because I started picking my daughter up the day I got home from the hospital.

This almost exactly
