Your first date

My friend is re-visiting his frirst date for his 1 year anniversay (heheh) and I was thinking.

What was your first date? Also, if you can find one post a picture of you and DH from back in the days.

I have no idea why we thought these shirts were good together..lol.

Our first date was very simple. DH was supposed to take me to go look at cars. The background to this is a whole different story. He convinced me to go to the movies to see "Drumline" and we did. Then he convinced me to go grab a bit to eat, so we went to Jack n' the Box. Finally he convinced me to go hang out and chill at a local park. I really don't think I would have given him a chance if we didn't get to know each other that night. I'm glad I did :)!

Re: Your first date

  • Our first date was dinner on the Treasure Bay casino in Biloxi MS. I would love to re-live it but the place was destroyed by hurricane Katrina! Unfortunately iam at work, and cannot post pictures.

  • Our first date wasn't until we had been dating for 6 months. I met DH and about 4 weeks later he was sent on a deployment for about 5 months. I was watching his cat so we kept in touch and started "dating" while he was over seas. When he did come home we went to the movies and to Olive Garden. We were SO young.
  • DH and I actually met on Halloween night 2006. he was "talking" to one of my best friends and he invited her to go to a haunted trail. my roommate and i ended up tagging along. we talked a little that night but nothing serious because afterall, he was thinking about dating my friend.

the next day, he added me on myspace ('cause it was popular back in '06 LOL) and we started chatting. i gave him my number and we talked. he found out my 21st birthday was just a little over a week away so he asked me if he could take me out for my birthday, like on a date. i asked my friend if she minded because i knew she was interested in him and she told me to go for it that he was too short for her anyways. she's 5'11" and he's barely 5'7"!

he took me to a really fancy Italian place. the food was gross. i'm not used to eating stuff like that. we had a couple of drinks and i went to the bathroom while he paid for the meal. he told me later that the meal was almost $200!!! he said he nearly threw up when he saw the bill. by the way, that place is no longer in business.

after dinner, he took me to bar (since it was 2 days after my 21st birthday). long story short. he got me drunk. took me home and i almost threw up all over him when he tried to kiss me.

4 years later, we're happily married.

    (sorry for the novel!)

  • Our first date was 15 years ago! We saw Forrest Gump.

  • We're both into mountain biking and our first date was supposed to be a ride.  As I was heading out to his house, it started pouring rain, so I had to turn around, go home and change so that we could meet at a restaurant instead.  We ended up talking for 3 hours that afternoon.  He still says that I didn't talk at all, but really, he didn't shut up long enough for me to get a word in.  Anyway, it was love at first sight for me!

I don't have any pictures on this computer to post.  :(

  • Our first "date" was working on our lab note books together in my apartment!  HAHA!  We were taking organic chemistry (just think, romantic bunsen burners, the aroma of various chemicals in the air...) and he knew my roommate.  My roommate thought it was hysterical that we were "talking" and she even took a picture of us writing in our lab notebooks!  Sadly,I am at work and cannot post this pic.  Maybe this could be our next siggy challenge!

  • Our first date was about 12 years ago (I was 16) and he took me to see Titanic.  Terrible idea, I cried like an idiot in the end.  We did make out though afterward ;-)

  • I'm on my phone, so no pictures :( I'm not sure what our first "date" was. DH and I were friends at work for over a year. I was in a relationship at the time, but he would always invite me out drinking after work. He partied a lot back then. When I broke up with my ex, my best friend was getting divorced at the same time. She wanted to go out one night, so I called (now) DH to see what he was up to. We all went out as a group a few times. I had just gotten out of a 4 year relationship, so I wasn't looking for something serious, but I just loved hanging out with him. Somewhere along the way it evolved into a relationship, I'm just not sure where.
  • Don't have any pics on this computer (nothing pre-marriage, that is), but I can recall our first date :)

We were set up on a blind date. He was a single man living with his family in the Alaskan wild (30 minute skiff ride to nearest town) and I was a single woman living in our state's capital. Someone who knew both of our families decided that we were both lonely and around the same age and decided to play matchmaker. After a couple of weeks of hearing vague things about the guy (he's goodlooking, sings like an angel, and is partial owner of a business- that's about all I knew), I found out that he was coming up, the next day, to see me!

Let me preface this with the fact that I had this feeling that he was the "one" and that is the only reason I said yes to this set up :)

Our first meeting/date was an absolute disaster - we were so nervous, we barely talked and never made eye contact. He invited me to play games at his aunt's house and I ended up spending the evening with his entire family (talk about crazy and overwhelming). I was nauseated and had a headache because of my nerves, the contacts I was wearing, and the fact that he tricked me into drinking this nasty ginger ale he loves. His SIL made this terrible dinner that made me feel even worse and, in the middle of it, his aunt's bull dog sneezed and shook slobber into my milk. I stayed for a couple hours while being practically ingnore by my future, equally nervous husband and his family. By the end of the "date" i was very convinced that it was a huge failure, he wasn't interested, and we would never see each other again. I was disappointed, because I really believed that it was meant to be...

As I was leaving, however, he walked me to the door, shifted around nervously, and said, "I know this was a little awkward, but I was wondering if you'd like to go again with me tomorrow night? I"m here until Saturday..." My heart nearly skipped a beat. We went on our second date to a local festival and, by the third date, we found ourselves sitting all night and talking about everyhing. We held hands not long after that and shared our first kiss about 2 weeks in (we  were each other's "first" in a lot things, so that's why we moved so slow).

We haven't slowed down since :)

We were young. I was 19 and DH was 21. This was about 7 years ago.

    Thanks!

  • It was the summer between soph/jr year. We decided I would meet him at Starbucks after I got off work. I was in my work clothes and he didn't even care. We got our coffee, talked for a long time, and he didnt even think I was weird when I took my shoes off to put my feet up in the comfy chair.

The coffee was supposed to be the only thing we did. But then we ended up going back to his house, watching a movie and making a band online lol.

I'm at work so I have no photos but we have really really changed over the last 6 years!

  • Can't remember much of the details of our first date, but I do remember the irony of it was that we went and saw "The Break Up." It was the night I moved back to my college town during the summer after my freshman year. We had been talking on the phone for about a month, after meeting the previous fall during Hurricane Rita. Oh to be that skinny again!

  • Our first date was almost 9 years ago (I was 22 and DH was 28).  We went to see some movie and went to dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant (local place).  I never could remember the date of our first date, so we didn't have "anniversaries" until we got married, LOL.  I don't have any recent photos here but we really don't look that much different.  DH's hair was slightly longer (he wore his hair to his shoulders then) and I was lot tanner, LOL.

  • Our first "date" was actually with a group of mutual friends.  We were at a local bar and decided to go to a "haunted house" (not Halloween, just a really spooky abandonded house).  Afterwards we went back to a friends house and DH and I were up talking all night.  We ended up falling asleep together in the recliner, since everyone else was passed out all over the living room.  No pics, sorry.

  • Our first date was at his house.  He made me and DD1 Thanksgiving dinner.  That was October 1999!

This pic is of us when I went to visit DH in BC in 2000 after he moved out here.  I moved here a month after this picture.

  • We met online and set a " casual park meeting" I took my son and he took his dog and we met at a nearby park. Spent an hour at the park then decided to go for ice cream and then went back to his apartment to watch movies. We were moved in together within a week, engaged in 2 mo and married 4 mo later! It was love at first email!!!

Our first date was at this little outdoor place in Portland called the Pied Cow. We had Apricot Pyramid beer, shared a hookah that tasted like blueberry waffles, and I'm sure we must have eaten, but I don't remember what. After that, he took me to this awful hole-in-the-wall bar down the street because he insisted they had the best fried mushrooms ever and wanted me to try them. We shared a basket of mushrooms and they gave me the WORST gas ever!! I spent the rest of our date trying my hardest to not fart and getting awful gas pains in the meantime. Needless to say, there wasn't a whole lot of action that night, hehe.

  • Our first date was 9 years ago and we went to dinner at Bennigans and then went to Foley's and he bought some Snoop Dogg pants! DH was 17 and I was 19. I'm sad Bennigan's is closed we used to go there on our anniversary every year
  • DH started working at the same laboratory I did. After a week or so of flirting, I asked him to meet me at a club (to celebrate my friend passing her ASL exam). I was drinking pretty well before this pic was taken

Ugh... I hate dating.  In fact, I've only been on one date ever and it was the most awkward, nerve-wracking thing ever!  I never talked to the poor guy again.

I met my DH one summer when we were both working at a camp.  He was actually engaged at the time, so we were just friends, but there was some definite chemistry there!  We started hanging out more and more (w/ some other friends) and after several months he finally realized that he should be with me, yay!  And then I moved in with him.  So there was no dating at all, lol.
