Need your FIRST thought

Ok, I am going to list a few names, and without looking at what other posters' comments, can you tell me the first thing you think of when you hear/see them?

I would really REALLY appreciate your help!  Thank you!

Arthur

Jasper

Orrin

Julius

    Arthur -  Yes Nice classic.  A family name on my husband's side, so a definite possible mn for us.

    Jasper - No

    Orrin - No

    Julius - Caeser?  No

    Sebastian -  Yes Very cute.

  • Alden--this is my cousin's kid's name.. he's a chubby little redneck kid. So, that's what I think of. hehe. Sorry.

    Arthur - Bea Arthur, or an old man

    Jasper - I don't hate this one. I'm imagining jazz hands though. No idea why.

    Orrin- My first thought was Orvis--the fishing catalog. But I don't dislike it.

    Julius --Orange Julius

    Sebastian --The Little Mermaid

  • I really need your initial thought or association, not whether you like it or not.  My husband and I are deep in an argument on a couple of these names and it has to do with what people think of when they hear the name.

    Arthur - old - not my style at all

    Jasper - reminds me of the friendly ghost although he was Casper

    Orrin - no

    Julius - no

    Sebastian - the only name I like on your list

    Alden = for some reason I think Southern.

    Arthur = King

    Jasper= Twilight

    Orrin= Makes me think of Orson Wells

    Julius= Ceasar, I am a big fan of Julius and Julian

    Sebastian= Ryan Phillippe in Cruel Intentions, I actually really like this name.

    Arthur - King Arthur, or the kid's books about Arthur

    Okay then

    Julius - the orange smoothy place

    Jasper - Casper

    Orrin - I picture it more for a cat, there was a cat I knew named with a name similar

    Arden - Elizabeth Arden, perfume 

    Sebastian - Bach 

    Arthur - the 80 year old drunk who comes into my place of business and never buttons more then 3 buttons to his shirt.  

    ETA - oops its Alden, not Arden but still I will go that I thought it was Arden and that is close enough.

    Jasper- LOVE

    Orrin- Different but not bad, it has a nice ring to it.

    Sebastian- nms (makes me think of Sebastian the crab from little mermaid)

    I didn't have any associations with some of them, which is why I just told you whether or not I liked it.  I told you that my first thought about Arthur is that it is a nice classic name and family name for us and that Julius makes me think "Caesar".  The others have no instant associations for me.

  • Alden- reminds me of that actor Alden Alda (I think his name was Alden)- the guy that was on MASH anyway.

    Arthur- reminds me of an old guy or that nerdy whiney cartoon Arthur

    Jasper- I love the name but it reminds me of Twilgiht (not that its a bad thing- just as long as isn't actually named after that charactor)

    Orrin- Sounds like an old name. not an old man name- but just an old name

    Julius- 1st thing that pops in my mind is Ceasar.

    Sebastian- reminds me of the crab from The Little Mermaid and also the lead singer from Skid Row.

    Alden - nothing I'd use, but I kind of like it

    Arthur - okay if a family name, but I don't particularly like

    Jasper - like it

    Orrin - like it, but much prefer the spelling Oren

    Julius - Caesar.  I love Julian, though.

    Sebastian - I know this is sort of trendy name that a lot of people like right now, but it's just very feminine sounding to me.  NMS.

  • Alden - Never heard of this name...I like it since it sounds unisex & unique. It means fiery.

    Arthur - Reminds me of the aardvark on PBS and in the books :)

    Jasper - Casper the ghost...

    Orrin - Again, never heard of this name...I like it though.

    Julius - I knew someone growing up with this name...he was a piano prodigy :)

    Arthur: My grandpa & uncles' name.

    Jasper: a dog's name.

    Orrin: no thoughts on this one.

    Julius: Orange Julius.

    Sebastian: the crab (or whatever he was) on The Little Mermaid.

    Arthur - first thought? a name for an old dude.  But, I appreciate that it is not made up, not trendy and is more classic.

    Orrin - it's alright, not a huge fan, but I can see why someone else would like it

    Julius - Ceaser

    Sebastian - no real association here; I think it's a nice name but some parents can sound really snooty depending on how they pronounce it.
