Open to suggestions. I thought I liked Corbin but I really don't want LO to be called Corby. I liked it because it was uncommon but not made up.
DH's family is of the mind set that boys get the father's full name (no junior, no the second, just the exact name), so there is NO variety in his family tree to pick from. That tradition has ended with his generation anyway (his sister didn't follow the rules and then neither did his cousin when they had boys).
So I'd love to hear your "uncommon" boy names. Minus Optimus.
Re: Your Fav Uncommon Boy Name
Elliot, Julian, Oliver
Asher
Seamus (prefer the original spelling, but Shamus is okay too)
Dexter
Jasper
Riley/Reilly (common as a girl name, not so much as a boy name -- which I prefer)
Desmond
Elias
Everett
Donovan
Clint
Wyatt
Samson
Miles
Angus (nn. Gus)
Casey (same issue as Riley)
Atticus
Conan (yea yea I know... I think it deserves to gain an identity apart from the warrior image)
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living my baby you'll be.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about having Corby be a nickname for Corbin.
ETA: And by that I mean that I don't think that ppl will use the nn Corby. It seems odd to me.
I agree. I see them calling him - Corb. I think its adorable!
Linus
(I don't consider Oliver or Miles uncommon)

Abel. Anson. Auden. Brecken. Deacon. Isaiah. Judd. Malachi. Micah. Shae. Taye. West.
But I agree about the Corbin/Corby thing... I don't think people would call him Corby. That seems awkward to me.
Small rant: If you don't want him to be called Corby, don't call him Corby...parents set the precedent until the kid is older and then it's out of your hands and he calls himself whatever he wants.
I like Dash, but it sounds like a bad action adventure hero paried with our last name.

I also love Atticus. August, Calvin, Malcolm, Theodore, Oren, Graeme, Julian, and Declan are on my list, too.
Oh, and I don't think that people would automatically call a Corbin "Corby."
I knew a Corbin (about 10 years old now) He always went by Corbin, if someone was talking in a hurry they said Cor-

#308 in the US in 2009, gaining 38 points since 2008.
Archer is pretty interesting: Being absent from the top 1000 boy names since 1890, this year it climbed it's way back in. Rising over 300 points, in 2009 it was #679!
I also agree and would probably call him Cory for short, not Corby.
Oliver
Sebastian
Declan
Rhys
Holden
Here are some of DH's stellar suggestions:
Cornelius Rex

Dynamite Chandalier
