DH loves this name because it was his grandma's name...i go back and forth with it. Im fine with it as a MN, but as a first? i guess all the older names are popular now...sophia, violet, grace...but what about gloria?

Gloria reminds me of Gloria Estefan and nothing else comes to mind. I don't like or dislike this name. Just not very common, I guess.

It's a fine middle name. Don't make it a first name.

Agree that it hasnt caught on yet because when i hear Gloria i think of an elderly woman.

that's my MIL's name. I know one other Gloria and she's also an older lady. I was hoping he wouldn't think of somehow incorporating that in our daughters name. Sounds too older lady to me. The only thing I find cute about it is calling her GLO as a nn.

It reminds me of people my mom's age (late 50). Similar in time period to Barbara, Brenda, Diane etc.

It was a pretty popular name in the 1920's-1960's, so it's not catching on because it isn't "old lady" enough. Whereas 'Violet' peaked in popularity in 1900-1920 making it very "old lady".
