bassinet to crib

Our little one currently sleeps in the bassinet next to our bed.  She's getting too big for it and we need to start transitioning her to her crib in her own room.  The issue is we think she sees her crib as another playpen because whenever we do put her in it, she gets all excited and starts to giggle. She also hates to be alone and is still nursing...

Any advice on transitioning?  We don't believe in the "cry it out" method.

Re: bassinet to crib

  • how old is she?  One idea is to put her bassinet in her room and have her sleep like that for a few nights so she can get used to her room before transitioning into the crib.  I would get the book No Cry Sleep Solution.   That gives some good ideas on no cry it out transitioning and sleeping.

  • I did everything the same (still waddled him) and just laid him down in the crib and he never got upset.

  • We started out with naps in the crib. The top of our bassinet came off so we put that part in the crib and he slept in there for a little while, to get used to his room and crib, then we took away the bassinet and now he is sleeping in his crib just fine!
