How many different charges can a hospital come up with?!

I mean seriously........  I've gotten a bill for the hospital, the ob delivering my LO, the pedi's office that came and visited her every day, the epidural guy, and now I get a 5th one today and 3 months after the fact.  WTH!  It's for the neonatal specialist or something another that took care of Autumn after she came out.  Seriously?!  What did this person do to get paid 368 bucks.  Clean snot out of her nose?  The nurse that helped me with the delivery was the one who gave her the sponge bath and hep B shot.  So what exactly did this person do?  Especially since my pedi's office came in about 2 hours after Autumn was born.  Sorry, this just feels like a rip off to me.  Probably when I calm down, it hopefully will make a LITTLE more sense to me.  Why can't all the charges be in one freaking bill.  Everytime I think I've got the hospital/doctor bills paid from my delivery, something else pops up.  Sorry - Vent over.

  • I would call the office and ask.

I got a bill that just said Baby Girl and it was for 500 from some doctor. I don't even know what she did there. Stupid.

  • I called and they told me it was for the neonatal specialist and that she was there to take care of the baby right when she was born.  I just gave up and paid it.  I rather pay it than it hit my credit.....

  • I requested itemized statements from every provider that has sent me a bill so far if their bills were too generic for me to see what happened. The itemized statements are really interesting (and kind of scary) to look over.
  • I just got a 1600+ bill for Alyssa..yes it is her bill c/o me......REALLY??  Where does this come from??  Her delivery was less expensive than this new bill!

She is 10wks today and I got the bill in todays mail...grrr

  •  I have seen around 12 statements for charges to my insurance...yep 12. From the epi all the way to the spool softners....yes that was one it own statement to insurance. If they all come as seperate hospital bills I am going to lose my mind. FYI my hospital is taking 25% off my bill if I pay it by the 18th of April. So you might ask about it if you plan on paying it in full.
