3rd Trimester

When did you baby turn head down?

I am sure this question has been asked before, but I did a search and could not find anything on the subject.  I went to my doctor appointment today and he said that the baby was head down.  I was surprised by this as I have been reading two different pregnancy books and staying one week ahead in them and neither of them said anything about the baby flipping yet.

So when did your baby flip?

Re: When did you baby turn head down?

  • Mine flipped sometime before 31 weeks.  I had an ultrasound at that time and he was head down and as far and I can tell he's stayed that way.  It's not that unusual.

  • At my 26 week appointment she was head down.  I have no idea if she's still in that position.

  • ultrasound at 28 weeks showed her head down... still head down as of last week's ultrasound too... (31 weeks)
  • She was head down at my u/s last week.  I am assuming she turned only a few weeks previous.  Hard kicks to the ribs started a few weeks back.  Before that she would kick in all sorts of spots.
  • He was head down at my 32 weeks appointment, I think he'd been that way for at least a week before that and he was still head down at my U/S today (33 weeks 1 day).

  • I think my dr. said, they should be head down by 36 weeks but could still turn up until that point.  I am sure that is an estimate and that everyone/baby is different.
  • This one hasn't. :P

My first, however, hung out head-down for pretty much the whole third trimester. She was head-down by around 25 weeks or so.

  • All the other posters confused me. At my doc appt yesterday the ultrasound showed him head down. My doc then said that babies usually stay in that position after 30 weeks and that he should remain in that position till birth.
  • im 37 wks now and ive known that LO has been head down since at least 34wks. In fact she is moving further and further down making life very uncomfortable, but ill forgive her and give her a pass! lmao
  • This LO is still head up. ?My OB said while it's still possible for babies to turn head down after 36 weeks, it is unlikely. ?C-section for me!
  • LO was head down on my 28th week appt, last Friday.  I am not sure if she'll stay that way, but we'll see.
  • Dr. didn't really check until 34 weeks and he was head down then. Dr. said he expected him to stay that way, as I am small and there isn't a lot of room to move around in there.  Dr. said that it didn't really matter when he turned but that he should be head down at 36 weeks.

  • My midwife won't even check until 34 or 36wks because before that they can flip multiple times.
  • Mine was head down at my 26 week appointment and I think he turned that way around 25 weeks. So far as I can tell and how uncomfortable I've been he has stayed that way most of the time. I kind of wish he would hang out head up for a little while because I have been having extreme belly button pain...I think that is where he pushes his little butt out.

  • At my appointment yesterday, my doctor said LO was head down, but that she may flip back around again because at this stage, they still move around a lot.  I don't think they get too concerned about it until 34-35 weeks...

  • LO has been head down for every ultrasound. i think its just more comfortable for babies so their heads doesnt bang into anything.
  • At 31 weeks and so far he has stayed that way Embarrassed

  • 34 weeks 4 days (this weekend)  THANK GOD!!
  • Baby has been head down almost the whole time except for 26 weeks when it was off to the side. at my 10 w appointment they did an u/s he was upsidedown. I guess he likes it that way. lol.  I had an u/s done yesterday and he is head down facing my back.
  • He flipped right around 29 weeks too. I was at my appointment and she told me that he was head down, but that he may move. I had an ultrasound 2 weeks later and he was still head down and the tech said that chances are he won't move.
