1. All overnight visitors must wear pajamas (or equivalent) during sleeping hours and must be dressed during the daytime hours - including shirt, pants and shoes. Night nurses will be making rounds and will be in the rooms during the night.
2. All overnight visitors should remain in the room from 10 p.m. until 7 a.m. to protect other patient's privacy.
For #1. This rule seems funny to me. Are they implying that you can't wear your regular clothes at night or that perhaps they had a run in with someone who wore nothing to bed?
Is your DH or SO bringing 'pajamas' to wear overnight. Perhaps sweats or lounge pants or do they plan on sleeping in their regular clothes?
#2. Do people just roam around during the day, room hopping and butting into other people's rooms that they need to have this rule? Is it a free for all before 10pm?

I'm sure they've run into some DH's wearing nothing or just undies.
The sad thing is that they had to create these rules because it was happening!
DH will wear fleece sleep pants or something and a t-shirt to bed.
Maybe people were walking the halls talking on their phones too loudly at 1am? Just guessing!
I was thinking this. It could help identify people that should be there. But, scary if someone bad ever found out the policy and wore PJ's too.
Lmao to this. I bet they have had bad past experiences with people maybe not dressing appropriately during the day?
HAHAHAHAHAHA! Dying laughing at this. I'm imagining a bunch of husbands running around the halls of L&D in their tighty whities, walking past the nurses for another cup of ice chips. HA!
My DH is a doctor...so he's just going to the hospital in scrubs. He'll change into another pair if things get messy, and he'll sleep in them too.

you would be AMAZED at what people think appropriate is! I am in the hospital on bedrest and the other night our PCA came in and my DH was cuddling in bed w/ me rubbing my back (both of us fully clothed keep in mind-me in pjs him in street clothes) and we joked that we didnt mean to make her feel awkward and she said not to worry that she had seen some NASTY stuff including walking in on couples numerous times having sex (keep in mind Im on a high risk ob floor where most the moms here are here for at least a day or two or longer) she said one time the couple was doing it and the mom was there for leaking amniotic fluid yet it didnt stop them! ugh!
I mean ive been here for over 4 weeks but I would never imagine doing it knowing that a poor nurse could walk in on us! How sad that the hospitals have to make written rules about this!
I work in L&D and for some reason both patient and husbands feel the need to walk around their rooms naked at all hours of the day; DHs walking down the hall to the ice machine in just their boxers or tighty-whities! We actually had a dad doing "skin-to-skin" butt naked (usualy it is done with baby in just a diaper being held next to mom/dads chest/belly). It is really suprising what people do in the hospital after delivery.

Sadly after working in hospitals (as an US tech) I have seen why this is a good rule. I have had people randomly wander in to our office or patient rooms and look around--some it seems have bad motives like looking for needles or meds. Some are just bored too I guess. My last job was nights, and one night I called security in a panic as I worked alone and someone came into my dept and started looking around into one of my patient rooms. Freaked me out!! I asked what he was doing, and he replied "Eh, my sister is in the ER and I got bored of waiting for her there so figured I would walk around a bit." SERIOUSLY?!?! So you think its ok to just wander into random hospital departments?!?! I was terrifed since I was by myself on a nearly empty floor, fortunately security was fast and told him to get his butt back to the ER and escorted him there.
I just learned so much from this thread.
