Clean humidifier with vinegar?

What is the proper way to do this? I've been putting distilled vinegar in the base of the cold mist humidifier and letting it soak a bit during the day. Not sure if this is the proper way to clean it? Thanks

    I have been using clorox anywhere. So vinegar has to be good right?

    I put vinegar in the bottom and also put some hot water in it.  I let it sit for a while and then scrub it.  I then rinse it out with water.

    That is what mine says to do too,  we also put hot water and 2 capfuls of bleach in the basin and let them both soak for 20 minutes.  Then scrub and rinse.

    Our pedi recommended cleaning ours with vinegar once per week.
