Anyone else told they have a heart shaped uterus or bicornuate uterus ?
I was told at my first ultrasound at 8 weeks that I have a bicornuate uterus. My dr didn't say much that night except it was rare and I have a higher chance of going into early labor. But, recently I started reading about it online and got really scared. Anyone have this or known anything about it? Should I be worried?

I don't have one but a friend of mine does. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think I remember her saying that the problem is more in getting pregnant than being pregnant b/c the uterus changes shape as the baby grows anyway.....
Was I only 1/2 listening to her? lolol
I have uterine didelphys, which was always misdiagnosed as bicornuate uterus. Most with UD, usually have 2 utes, 2 cervices, and 2 vaginas. I don't have two vaginas, but I have 2 of everything else. Mine is heart shaped too, so that's why it was always diagnosed as BU.
When you have a uterine anomaly, you need to be seen by a specialist who knows what they are dealing with. PP is correct- most women have a problem with getting pregnant and having several miscarriages. My doctor (RE) said it's the other way for me; he thinks the baby will run out of room around 15-20 weeks. Most people with BU can have their septum removed. I cannot.
I've read so many successful stories of women who've had healthy babies with BU. Most women don't even know they have a bu until they give birth!
I found out when I delivered my son that I have a bicornuate uterus. My son was breech from about 20 weeks on and couldn't turn, I ended up having to have a c-section. I thought it was just a fluke, but when my OB did my c-section that is when we (he) realized that I actually have a bicornuate ute. He didn't seem to worried about it. He told me that women will sometimes have trouble getting or staying pregnant and that many women face problems with delivery (preterm delivery, breech babies, etc).
I had a totally successful, noneventful pregnancy with my son and I carried him to 38 weeks. I also got PG with him on the first cycle trying. With this baby it took 5 cycles. I am hoping for another successful pregnancy. I see my Dr on Monday so I will talk to them about my concerns now that we know I have this abnormal shaped uterus.
btw, STOP looking online. I did that too and it TOTALLY freaked me out!
My aunt has BU and while she did have trouble getting pregnant, she eventually concieved naturally and had a completely normal and healthy pregnancy, delivery, and baby. Her pregnancy was textbook, no problems. Her doctor said they would treat it normally until it proved otherwise, and it never did. So unless your doc makes a big deal about it, dont worry so much or get a second opinion if it gives you piece of mind. And STOP GOOGLING!
