Hi all! Hope you all are having a fantastic week. Hopefully it?s your last full week of work until the holidays! Please keep Pennynjon in your T&P?s. They found out they are Team Pink, but they also found out that their LO has anencephaly.

QOTD: Are you taking any type of classes? Second time moms, are you going to take a refresher course or any additional classes?

As we all learn what "Team" we're on, please include your EDD! Thanks so much!

Here is our check-in for everyone with a due date in May 2010. If you would like to be added please post your bump name, real name (optional), age (optional), and your EDD (expected delivery date). If we missed you at the last check in please post again.

If anything has changed, like your EDD after an ultrasound, please post an update with your original EDD so you can be easily found on the list.

Happy Hump Day. I am a third time mom and having a planned C-section, so no childbirth classes needed. Still on the fence about BF, so I may take a BF class if I choose to try it again.

I'm a second time Mom and although it's been almost 6 years, I don't think I'll be taking a refresher course. We will be taking a hospital tour again because they remodeled the Mother-Baby Unit in the 6 years since I had my dd. I also signed up my dd for a Babies Need Buddies class. I can't wait for that - I think she'll love it!

We are scheduled for Childbirth Education classes in February. We also get a tour of our new birthing center.

I have a list of other classes that I'm interested in and looking into....breastfeeding, infant cpr, infant massage, child safety, prenatal yoga, baby sign language...

I didn't take any classes the first time around since I was set on having an epidural and after talking with friends that had gone and not really used anything they learned I decided it just wasn't for me. I will not be taking any classes this time around either.

We bought a package of classes through our hospital. We'll take a six week Labor and Delivery class, a newborn care/breastfeeding class, an infant CPR and safety class, and postpartum care class. DH gets to take a fathering class, and my parents get a grandparent class.

Obviously, I'm the type who likes lots of information!

QOTD: Yes, we will take the typical lamaze birthing class, and maybe a BF one....and possibly another 1st time parents type class. We are getting all the info at our next appt. Jan 7th!!! (BIG US!!!)

QOTD - We're taking a class through our birthing center in March, and I'm either going to take a BFing class or go to a couple few La Leche League meetings. I'm leaning toward the LLL meetings - I know it sounds strange, but I'd like to actually see a baby latch!

QOTD: We will take Lamaze at the hospital, but will also buy a Hypnobirthing book. I haven't decided about breastfeeding classes, because several people have told me it's not really necessary and to talk to the lactation consultants at the hospital about any issues. We will probably take a CPR class. I have already been certified in child CPR, but have never taken an infant class. DH doesn't know any CPR. I was going to do yoga, and still may, but I have a personal trainer who teaches yoga, so we do some of the poses during training sessions.

All I did was the hospital tour and I thought that was very useful. But I've heard all the other classes are a waste of time.

QOTD:This is our second and with DS we did not take any classes. I was dead set on getting an epidural, but then that failed when I had a reaction to the medication...my Midwife recommended that we take a hypnobirthing class this time where I am not having an epidural. We were going to take the class, but now are going to get the home study kit and just do it the two of us. My husband really didn't want to go and sit for three hours for five weeks!! I think I would have been exhausted as it goes from 7-10 at night!! This way we can go at our own pace and have time together

QOTD: I registered for childbirth classes through our hospital. I wanted to do Bradley but couldn't find an instructor who did weekend classes, and there was no way with our work schedule that DH and I could do a weekday class.

Hi Ladies~

I haven't signed up for, but we're planning on doing:

-Childbirthing class (possibly Lamaze since I don't know if I want to go natural or with meds)

-Breastfeeding Class

-Infant care class (mostly for DH, but I'd like some pointers too).

I'm going to make DH go to all the classes-- I think it's important for him to learn as much as I do. I've also heard that husbands are more supportive and can provide assistance if they've taken a breastfeeding class.

I am taking the refresher childbirth class, mostly because I do remember the pain management techniques they taught being useful in early labor, but I don't remember the techniques themselves, plus they give out some info about how to deal with the older sibling and the baby as well. I might take a breastfeeding class this time, I didn't with DD because they said they had one in the hospital, but I felt like all the people at the hospital who were supposed to help me learn weren't very much help at all. We'll see if I can fit the breastfeeding one in, if not I am sure it will come back to me.

I am really torn on taking a birthing class. I am going to ask my Dr for her honest opinion at my 20 wk appointment. I have heard that the BF classes aren't really necessary because the hospital nurses will coach me after I deliver- But as a PP said that efficacy may depend on the nurses you get and how willing they are to help

Probably just doing the free breast feeding class myself from the hospital and a tour with DH. I was going to do the hypnobirthing one but by the time i just found out you have to sign up by the time you are 16 weeks. So I guess I will just read up on my own (more my style anyway).?

Found out yesterday we are TEAM BLUE!!!!!! We really wanted a boy at least for the 1st. EDD May 16

We went to the geneticist and No Spina Bifida!!!!! They did find a small cyst on the brain (could be a sign of Trisomy 18) and a white spot on the heart (could be a sign of Downs) but Dr. said that we had no ?other markers for either and bloodwork was as low as you can get so she doesn't even need to do a follow up. She said the cyst will go away on it's own before 28 weeks and the white spot will just be there forever but it is fine.

Whew!! Now to find a name for our boy!
