I LOVE TY! I'm also on the fence about Tyson, though...I think Tyler is a great alternative - we just can't use it b/c our last name starts with an "R" and I think it sounds strange.
Trey is my 5yo son's name We picked it because it was uncommon (at least around here).
I have a very common name and growing up everyone always referred to me by my first name + last initial because there were 4 others in my class with the same name. I remember how much I hated this, and it was a huge consideration when we were trying to find an uncommon but not unusual name for our first born
