Edit: warm or cool mist humidifier

I was wondering what you have either been told or found for yourself to be better? ?I was just thinking a regular cool mist one, but then wasn't sure what the benefit of a warm mist would be. ?Thoughts? ?TIA

  • For the nursery? I've read cool mist, no chance of burns that way. Only drawback is you have to use filtered water since there's no warmth to kill bacteria in the water.
  • Cool mist... the warm mist humidifiers can breed bacteria.

This. Although the warm mist keeps the temperature of the room nice and toasty. I have a warm mist and I rinse it out after every use and clean it with vinegar every week, so no problem with bacteria. But If you're not going to keep up with it, go with a cool mist.

  • Our pediatrician said to get a cool mist because the warm mist provides a breeding ground forn bacteria.

  • i was told warm mist for colds, and cool mist for alergies.
