Day care suggestions near Royal Oak/Troy

I am interested in calling around to get prices on daycare close to our home/work in Royal Oak and Troy.  My mom is going to help watch the baby the first few months and then DH will have the baby during the summer so we are looking for daycare next fall at about 6 mos.  I know its early but I don't even know where to start.  Did you get recommendations from friends/family or did you just start calling around to places locally?

Any feedback on Grace Christian Learning Center (Troy) or SunnySkies (Clawson/Huntington Woods)?  I have seen both of those recently.

Thanks!

Jenny

Re: Day care suggestions near Royal Oak/Troy

  • DH and I live in the Royal Oak/Clawson/Troy area, and we just visited a couple in Troy over the past few weeks.  I like the larger types of facilities, so I went to Childtime on Crooks in Troy, Kindercare on Coolidge in Troy, and The Learning Experience on New King Dr in Troy.  The websites are below.

We ended up picking The Learning Experience and are starting our 6-8 week old baby there in Feb (depending on when they arrive, or course).  Big Smile  I loved the structured program they follow as they get a little older, it's really focused on learning rather then just being a day care.

    Good Luck in your search!!

  • The Berkley school district offers childcare, even on the "school schedule." I've heard great things about their program, but I have no experience myself. Their rates seem pretty reasonable for the area, too. Might be worth a shot:

I would check out Katies Kids.  It is small and personal in downtown Royal Oak.  I plan on sending my lil girl there from a great recommendation this fall.
