River North/ Old Town Moms

I currently live the West Loop, but am in the process of buying a townhome and we are looking in River North or Old Town.  I plan to have a child in the near future and want to know if anyone lives in those areas with kids, do you feel safe, are there "kid friendly" places to go, parks to walk to, good network of other parents? Thanks!

    We live in Old Town (on Wells) and we love it.  We're due in May so we haven't really done any kid activities but we definitely feel safe in the area and I always see kids around where we live.  There's a great park on Goethe and State too.

    I have a 10 month old and live in River North.  We love it here...we should be getting our park this summer at Erie and the River.  The Park District has been working on it for some time.  There is a mom's group in the area...gets together a few times a year.  Tons and tons of baby's have hit this area in the last several years.
