I swear, I could remove an entire layer of skin with the scratching!
I've tried benedryl and general lotion to make it less itchy and its not helpful.
MercierGirl:Do you have any rashes? If so, it is probably PUPPS. I had it with my first pregnancy and it is awful. If there are no rashes and it is mainly itchy on your hands and feet, then I would call your doc asap. It could be something called choletitis (sp). Which could be harmful to baby.
cholestasis (that's the correct spelling in case you want to look it up)
And yes, it can be very harmful - you basically have to induce early if you have it, so if you are having a lot of itching without a rash showing up, esp. on the palms of your hands and soles of your feet, call your doc asap.
If you have a rash on your belly, arms, legs, that's probably PUPPPs which is annoying as fluck but harmless. But let your doc know anyway - we were 99% sure mine was PUPPPs but she wanted to check me for cholestasis just to make sure, since it is so dangerous.
Sarna lotion. My life saver.
