We only have one niece/nephew, so we are hitting uncharted territory this fall when she turns 1. DH claims his aunts/uncles never bought him birthday gifts as a child, I know mine did. DH is putting his foot down saying he doesn't want to "start something" while I am imagining his other two sisters definitely getting something for our niece and us looking like idiots. This happened at her baptism when everyone showed up with gifts and we had to "run an errand" and grab something at the last minute. (never mind all the gifts and hand-me-downs SIL has given us for this LO).
Do you buy presents for your nieces and nephews?
And if I end up winning this one (or doing it behind his back) any good gift ideas? SIL buys everything she wants for her (not just the necessities) so it's not like they need/want anything specific.
