My MIL

Is a real piece of work. She's OOT for a church thing, I think. H talked to her a bit ago and she said she got some stuff for the boys and that we owe her half of what she spent. We didn't ask her to get them anything and there was no discussion about who will pay for what. She just took it upon herself to buy things and then decide we were going halvsies. Who DOES that?!?

He was so dumbfounded that he didn't know what to say. I told him to tell her to take the stuff back and ask us if it's ok first. She honestly has no idea that she did anything wrong and it's making me want to bang my head against a wall trying to talk to her.

  • I think you should go shopping for her next week and return the favor. Be sure to keep the receipt!

  • That is crazy,  I hope you or your husband tell her no, she will have to return it.

  • Yikes. That is so rude, not to mention unfair.

  • Hell no. She definitely needs to return half the stuff.

My mil tried that once. Sfil went into a convalescent home for recovery after contracting cellulitis a few years back. She went out and bought him a tv because they don't have them there and told us to pay her third of it.

Dh said no way. He told her if she asked first we would have saved her the trip and money and lent him our tv from our spare room. He was only there 4 weeks.

Did you pay your sisters? That's pretty rude too.

    What did she buy?
She said she got them clothes. She buys them stuff all the freaking time and has never once asked us to pay half. This is so weird and annoying.

Ya know what? Now that I think about it...she recently asked me to buy them clothes to keep at her house. I wonder if this is her way of getting back at me for saying no. She also had an argument with FIL this past Christmas because she wanted to keep all of their presents at her house. This really shouldn't surprise me as much as it did.

OMG my mil does that too. She'll buy DS these really cool toys that he loves for birthday or Christmas but they're to keep at her house. Which of course  means  I have to take him over there to play with them. It pisses me off.

  • Mt mom does this all the time, only she buys things on an "amazing" sale and keeps a notebook of how much I owe her. Saying no is not worth the argument of why we need it,
