I go in tomorrow night for cervadil and Ambien, then pitocin on Monday morning. My cervix is totally closed, nothing going on at all so I imagine I won't magically go into labor. But, I could be wrong.
Should I take the Ambien to get sleep? I haven't had issues sleeping at all this pregnancy. I'm worried I'll be zonked from the Ambien the next day or that I'll go into labor super spacy.
Any prior experience you have to share would be great!
Re: Etoille...or others with Cervadil/Ambien experience
I was totally closed and nothing going on either when I was induced at 37 weeks. They gave me cervadil at I think 9pm or so and I also took the Ambien. I hadn't been sleeping well at all at the end of pregnancy though so I needed to at least try it. I think with Ambien you need at least 8 hours to sleep for it to wear off (and the cervadil stays in 10 or 12 I think - sorry I can't quite remember). So if you are going to try it you kind of have to decide around the same time you get the Cervadil.
For me Cervadil didn't feel like anything - I did dilate to a 2 or 3 so it worked but its not like I was in pain overnight or anything so you might be ok without the Ambien. For me I have sleep apnea (so probably shouldn't have even tried the Ambien) but I was only sleeping for 1 or 2 hours at a time even on Ambien - and by the morning it was completely worn off and I didn't feel loopy or sleepy at all.
Bottom line, I think you should take the ambien.
I was induced at 37 weeks with a closed cervix. Did cervadil and ambien for 12 hours with no progression but started the pitocin. No progression over the day so did the whole ordeal over night the next night again. That morning was barely at 1cm but were able to break the water and progressed to 10 cm in 2 hours.
Def get the ambien. Any sleep u get will be helpful!

Thanks all! I appreciate the responses! I've never taken it either Etoille (Ikid of hate taking headache medicine, just not a fan of drugs!). But it sounds like the wise choice is to follow dox's orders and take it.
Wish me luck ladies! Tonight DH and I have a last date night planned and then tomorrow we go in to get things started. Eek!

Dinner at Sweetwater Tavern and then seeing The Way Way Back. Something simple and easy! We did PF Changs last night with my folks.
I wish you good luck hopefully you don't need pitocin!!
I had 4 days of cervidil. I slept fine without taking anything, after the first 2 hours of administering it the contractions were easy to sleep through.
Good luck!

Dude. Dude. That is nuts. I remember your birth story. And I hope you're feeling better! I know there was a lot of stuff that got brought up for you. Just another big hug from me! And thanks so much for sharing!
I'm hoping I don't need pitocin either. But, I'm not opposed to the epidural, so I'm not terrified of it if that makes sense. My Mom had to be induced with me and had a longer labor. No clue if its genetic or if she like passed her hormonal makeup on to me. Just hoping all goes as smoothly as possible and that LO comes into this world healthy!
