Nameless baby

Hubby and I literally have nothing. He has 1 name that he loves that I hate, and I have one that I love and he hates. Other than that there are a few we each think are OK, but none that we agree on. Everyone keeps telling us "When you find the name you'll know," but I'm pretty sure we've considered every name out there at this point.  We both know there will be some level of compromise, but it's hard to consider naming the baby something we both don't love.

Anyone else out there still have no name for their LO?

  • We have two names we both like but we aren't deciding until she's born.

  • We are in the same position. We have two names we kind of like Zachary and Benjamin but no names that we really love like with DS. It's so frustrating.

  • We were in the same boat. I finally told h to just pick a name. I didn't need the stress. He picked my name. Ha! I have no advice for you but I know how much it sucks to not agree and feel out of options.

  • Combine the two names you hate? I really have no other advice for you hun! I do fully believe that once you see your baby you will have the perfect name picked out or will pick the perfect name. Sometimes it does take seeing your baby for it to hit you.

  • We have a list of names we like. But nothing we LOVE. We'll go through the list every so often and edit it by either taking off names we now hate or adding something we like. But no decisions have been made. We'll probably wait until LO is born to really decide the name.

  • This may be a UO but I find it a little weird when people name unborn babies. What if the second it comes out it definitely doesn't match the name you've picked?

We have two names we both like and two we are less thrilled about, but we will wait until we see our son before choosing. For now our son is Pickle. ::smiley::
  • This was us for months. I highly recommend Nymbler. DH and I each spent a whole hour on there separately then compared our lists.

Our nephew named our baby pickle as well Smile Other niece/nephew suggestions have been acorn, nemo, and cinnamon. At this point we might end up with one of those, haha!

  • We had no boy name until the other day with our scare. We picked one a long time ago and over time DH decided he couldn't see his child with the name. The name we finally settled on FOR GOOD is Wesley Theodore. But, this only happened because we realized baby has a mind of it's own and will come whenever, and I've made it very clear that I want my baby to have a name within minutes of birth. Wesley has been on my love list for years and DH shot it down several times. So... My advice is, keep at it, but if you find ones that YOU like, keep a list and keep bringing them up casually even after he shoots them down. It worked for me and DH is actually loving the name! I should also say we are team green so we aren't certain our baby is Wes even still!

This is a very interesting point. I was considering us not naming our son until we saw him, but once H committed to using my name that was it. I think for the most part people somehow tend to grow into their name, but maybe people just get use to someone's name? This is probably a UO too...I don't feel very comfortable calling my baby by his name. I have no reason why. I think his name is perfect, but calling him by his name feels strange for me to call him that right now. I don't find it strange when one of my coworkers, originally from Africa, calls me Momma Brice. Where he is from they call mothers momma incert first born's name That makes it even more odd

We don't have a name either.  I should feel a greater sense of urgency about it, but I kind of keep forgetting to even look at names.  We should probably get a move on!

ETA:  FWIW, our son wasn't named until he was almost two days old and we were ready to leave the hospital.  I'm not a huge fan of picking out a definite name until we see the baby.

  • Nameless here too! And team green so we need a good list of male and female, or unisex, names. Im 31 weeks and time is tickin! I go through phased of worrying and then just being blas about it. I trust we will have the right name when he or she is born. We still have almost a month after baby is born to name him or her, so that eases my worries. But after than time the government just issues u one!
  • I have a girls' name, but not a definite boys' name...

this is what we did with dd #1... Worked out perfectly! This time around we agreed on one earlier so that dd#1 could begin calling her by it while she's still in my "tummy"...

  • We haven't decided either and are going to wait to meet him. We have a few top choices that we'll be considering. I think the baby names board on here is helpful! Some people are a bit, um, colorful about names they don't like but you get tons of ideas! One of our top choices came from a suggestion someone made on that board. You should check it out!

One of my best (girl) friends is named Weslie (pronounced exactly like Wesley).  I think it's an awesome girl's name.

  • We don't have a name picked out for our baby boy yet.  We are having a really hard time.  There are some names that I like some but none that I love.

    <Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker>
  • We had a boy name picked out while DH and I were dating, so that was easy. But, we are having a girl and we are stuck. We both like different names, so I'm just thinking we will wait until she's born to decide.

Mobile thumbs up! We are team green and waiting. We have lists but nothing is for sure. Good luck! I suggest nymblr or the baby name board.

I've seen baby rooms with the names already over the bed or towels embroidered with the kids initials etc... Things that are, not permanent, but fairly committed. I guess that's what I find weird. Also I think it would just be sh!tty to tell everyone one name then change it if it doesn't suit.
  • I should also say that I've met people who seriously don't match their names and I have a really hard time remembering their name as a result.

I don't see how it's shitty. It's our kid, if we decide the name doesn't suit when he's born then it's our choice to change it. We don't do a lot of embroidered stuff though.

  • With all these responses this may be an UO, but I don't know how a baby can "look" like a certain name. I think babies grow into their names and then you feel like they could have never been named anything else.  I understand going to the hospital with a few options because you haven't decided yet, but I think the decision is then made based on urgency, not because the baby has a certain "look".

DH and I are in the same situation!!! With our first he eventually gave me the name I love when I had a really bad day. I told him if we had a boy the next time he could pick the name but not girl because we are completely opposite! Well it's another girl so we are stuck once again and combining the names won't work
