Last night, around bathtime for Alex, 2 month old O started crying hysterically. She wouldn't eat, and none of our usual calming tricks worked. Alex was trying to wind down for bed, and she was getting worse. Finally, with frazzled nerves and at my wits end, I told Alex to put on his shoes and hop in the car. I strapped them both in and started to drive. O started to calm down and Alex kept asking where we were going. Then I noticed, every time we stopped the car for a light, O would start up screaming and the air conditioning would crap out and blow hot air. It was still 90 degrees out.
Remember the movie Speed, with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock? They had to keep the bus moving or it would explode? Yep, that's pretty much what I felt like.
She did eventually calm down so I could feed her, but it was pretty ugly there for a while.
