Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

height of 12 month old

hi ladies --

my step-sister is a little concerned about the growth of her little girl (and has made an appointment to speak to her dr about it this week) -- i'm just asking (for my own curiosity!!) how big your little girl was at 12 months old.

Thanks!

Re: height of 12 month old

  • 28 inches, give or take. Just shy of, but had a growth spurt right after, putting her just over 28.

  • It doesn't really do much good to compare her to other kids. If she has fallen off her curve and her doctor is worried, then maybe there is an issue. And maybe not.

  • 27 inches but that's the 68th percentile. As long as her LO is staying consistent with growth then no worries.

    Huh?

My LO was 28.5" and the 10th percentile.... curious what charts your doc uses.

But honestly, all kids are different and it can vary a lot; it's only significant changes on the charts that are of concern.

My LO measured 29 1/4 and that was the 25th percentile.  I'm curious about your charts as well because that seems really drastic.

  • My DD was 31.5 inches tall at 12 months, but she's a monster baby!  I was told that was 95+ percentile.

As PP's said, if she's on her curve then she's probably fine.  However, if she's already made the appt and it's for her peace of mind as much as anything.

I have a wonderful DH and a beautiful baby girl, C.  Baby 2 due 6/1/14.

I use this chart. It seems to match up with my doctor's.

It really doesn't matter where she falls in comparison to other kids...only where she falls in comparison to herself and her past growth. The doctor should be able to reassure your sister.

  • LO was 27 inches today and I was told 25th percentile.  She's in the 95th for weight at 22lbs.

  • It can vary so much.  DD was 32.25", 18 lbs 1 oz at 12 months old.  She didn't even double at that point and she is perfectly healthy.
