Restless

Hi ladies. I have an almost 7 week old that is extremely restless! While she's sleeping she's constantly moving her hands and legs around and grunting and straining. She spends hours awake being restless. I try rocking her not stimulating her, bathing her, singing, putting her in bouncy, swaddling u name it I've tried it. When she finally falls asleep she only catnaps for like 2030 min. I don't have a pedi appt until Tuesday so I was just wanting to know if there were others experiencing the same thing? Thank you

Could it be gas? If my little one is restless and grunty, sometimes I can get her to burp and she settles down.

Are you swaddling tight enough? Mine is very much the same way, but if we get her arms locked down she'll sleep for hours.

My first guess would be gas. Try burping and/or gas drops. My second guess is the swaddle. Is it tight enough? My LO is more restless when it's not tight enough and it annoys him because it loosens with his wiggles. The miracle blanket is awesome.

Yes!  My LO grunts, squeaks, wiggles, chirps, chatters, pretty much every noise possible!  But her eyes are closed and she doesn't seem uncomfortable! She only does it in the middle of the night, but it's really distracting!  If you figure out a solution, let me know!

Yes. Ours is a grunting king at night, unless swaddled well enough. We just got the Miracle Blanket and he was so quiet last night. He is very jerky with his arms and legs and noisy during the day too. And only catnaps. But we don't swaddle during the day. I just let him go. He's always happy, while active. I think some babies are just active and noisy. But the swaddling has helped us sleep.

Sometimes DS is fussy like this due to gas as well.  But most of the time he is just a baby that grunts, squeaks and is noisy.  Usually he will start out like that when we put him down then after a few mins he settles once he has done all of his stretching.  If he does not settle I know it is gas.

Check out my "Could have been sleeping" post!!!! This is our LO to a T and we just figured out to let him grunt it out because he was just figuring out his area. Try not picking her up until she really cries... you might be surprised that she won't and will put herself back to sleep.
