I intro'd a little yesterday but am back to formally say "howdy!" and start getting to know folks here.
My name is Emily, and my husband's name is Matt. We're in our mid-30s, been together nearly 10 years but got married just a little over 10 months ago. He works in IT, supporting a student print/computer lab at a university, and I'm a PhD student in clinical psychology (going into dissertation phase in the next few months - can't wait to be done with coursework!!!!). We have two kitties, Punky and Guenevere (Gwennie), both rescues, who we adore and who keep us on our toes. We're both on the "geeky" side, he reads comics, is a gamer, and is into sci-fi and high fantasy reading. I'm more "geek lite" in that I can follow everything he's into, but my main "geekishness" comes through in my reading preferences (fantasy, high fantasy, and historical sci-fi/fantasy a la Outlander series). We live in rainy Pacific Northwest and LOVE it. I grew up in Washington and he's from upstate NY, but we met in southern California in college and within a few years we had run out of steam for living in the city and moved where we found work - brought me back home and him to a place that he's fallen in love with.
We're trying for our first :) We've only been actively "trying" for a couple of cycles, but I've been off BC (Mirena) for a year and a half. I'm still learning the ropes of the whole TTC thing, but I'm a quick study and value common sense wherever it applies.
DH was super duper supportive of everything yesterday, when I told him the whole story that lead me to the conclusion of a chemical pregnancy. He was disappointed but also quick to point out a few positives we've learned. He is deeply emotional but also very pragmatic, and he's pretty good at soothing when needed. He's really a treasure :)
Anyway, that's all I can think of to intro. any questions, ask away - I'm pretty easygoing and happy to answer and/or share, offer ideas and support, etc.
