Nipple Shield Users

Do any of you who use a nipple shield pump after each feeding to make sure your breast is emptied? My DS is 6 weeks and I think he drains my breasts effectively (good weight gain, plenty of wet diapers) but I've been doing some reading about the shields and just about everything I find says I should pump after feedings since using a shield can cause you to be more prone to plugged ducts. Just trying to see what everyone else does. I'm just getting over thrush so I definitely don't want to head down the plugged duct road!

Hmm...I had not heard of this...maybe I will try to pump more often after nursing...

I usually only pump once a day and I haven't had a single clogged duct.

My LC told me to pump twice a day (after feedings)  but it was mainly to keep my supply up, since the shield can effect that.  This is my 3rd baby, and lucky me, this is the 3rd child I have had to use the shield with.  I have had no issues using it with my other two, and have only ever had one clogged duct.
