Formula Boredom

This is going to sound silly.. but is anyone else getting bored feeding formula (or even doing the BF thing)?

In browsing the baby aisles of our local Walmart, I spied the baby cereals and jars of pur?ed food, and am really looking forward to introducing some variety to DDs diet!

Anything is more interesting than preparing the same old formula, day in and day out.  Plus, I'm quite sure that my farts now smell like formula because my face is so close to DDs when she drinks, that I feel like I'm breathing in the smell.  TMI?  Sorry.

Re: Formula Boredom

  • Honestly, that's what your baby needs (and the only thing your baby needs) to be healthy right now, so no. Although I breastfeed, so I don't have to mix bottles all the time... I can see how that would get annoying.

  • LOL  I get what you're saying but believe me, you'll soon long for the days of "boring" when you're trying to figure out all the places that spoonful of sweet potatoes landed in your dining room :)

  • Baby 411 says only first time parents feel this way.  Experienced parents know that moving on to actual food has its own challenges and pitfalls, and definitely isn't "fun".  Our little guy struggles with bottle feeding though, so yeah I am hoping it comes soon!
  • I miss the days when I only had to formula feed!  Feeding DD is such a challenge sometimes and time consuming. She is so picky and it can get so messy.  Be careful what you wish for!

  • As a STM, I totally agree with PP's. once LO starts throwing food and spitting pures out you'll long for the simple days when they only took a bottle!

  • I completely understand what you mean. We had strawberry flavored gas drops and LO would get the silliest face and LOVED the flavor. I know she will love different kinds of food and DH and I say all the time how excited are to watch her taste them for the first time!

I Agree With This! I Was Like This Too. Altho I Still Hate Washing Bottles, And I Have Twice As Many This Time Around.

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

  • I understand your excitement to add variety to baby's diet, but you are thinking from your own stand point and not what baby is ready for at the moment. It will come but for right now you need to satisfy your need for variety in other ways.

You can always make and freeze your own baby food in advance. That will give you something to do while you wait.

That's what I was thinking. I was all excited to give DS food until I actually started doing it.  Ugh what a disastrous mess.

Ditto. It's not easy planning out meals! I wish DS would go back to bottles :)

  • I can sort of relate. I plan to make some baby food myself, so I'm looking forward to that. But I also appreciate that it's easy just mixing up formula and not having to figure out what LO is going to eat today.

Actually the puree stage was the worst IMO because it is a pain. When they drink milk only, you can just pack a bottle or throw them on the boob. When they eat normal food they can eat at restaurants, on the go, etc. The puree stage..... pain in the butt.... you have to have containers, spoons, it is messy,  and takes a lot more time. I am in no rush to give these twins solids!
